... should have a goose liver hose shoved down their throat until pate leaks from their ears.

1. And should give me that watch.
What time is it? Time for class consciousness!

3. It's more difficult for a bank to sell a watch that it doesn't own.
Also, something is worth what people are willing to pay for it. If a celebrity buys an inexpensive watch and wears it for ten years, then somebody might be willing to trade a house for it.

12. That won't stop them from trying

The banks foreclosed on people's homes despite their not holding the original note, so what's stopping them from selling watches they don't own? They'll just forge a sales receipt on the watch the way they forge the mortgage papers.

14. Step One: They discover that the watch exists. How?
Step Two: They know where to look for it. How?
Step Three: They gain physical possession of it. How?

Perhaps there's a way for them to sell it without first completing the above steps?

6. There are several lists of "Most Expensive Watches"
This list from Menpulse has a top listing of a watch of $25,000,000.

8. Holy bat shite 25M for a watch with a Chinese movement?
It’s pure vanity!

I stopped wearing watches when I was laid off ten years ago because I figured I need not be punctual anymore. I am doing just fine without them.

9. Nice "target identifiers."
No one really thinks this is going to stay nonviolent, do they?

10. It already is violent. Wall Street has already sent the police to attack protesters.

15. Good point.
But what do you want to bet that if the violence escalates, the corporate media will do it's damnedest to pin the blame on the protesters?

I'm worried sick bout how things are going to play out in the end...but that's still not going to keep me away from tomorrow's start of #occupyportland.

11. Hmmmph. If they were REALLY important, they needn't wear a watch AT ALL.
Edited on Tue Oct-04-11 09:55 AM by Buns_of_Fire
It's like going to a meeting. The really important attendees aren't the ones carrying armloads of charts and graphs and easels and dry-erase markers in fourteen different colors. The important ones are those who just sit there behind half-closed eyes and merely say "yes" or "no" after all the presentations and arguments and exhortations are finished.

Then a third-assistant vice-president (who DOES wear a watch) taps them on the shoulder to remind them that it's time for their mid-morning extra-dry martini and high colonic, followed by a power-nap.

13. Probably not about function, though...
I would say it's more decoration.

Like huge ass diamond rings and earrings aren't about function, either. Decoration. Status symbols. The "I make enough money to buy something totally non-functional" thing...
