Verizon wireless sucks
I quit AT&T after being a customer since 1994. All because they refused to lower my cell phone bill by $20 from $99 to match Sprint or Verizon better plans. My choice was Sprint or Verizon. I chose Verizon because I don't need a smart phone and don't text much. I thought my plan was going to cost $69.95 plus $5 a month for up to 250 messages per month and tax bringing it to $83.

I've been ill and on top of that my car had been hit by a drunk driver two weeks ago and I have to grub rides to and from work. Inadvertently, my first cell bill with Verizon is late by SEVEN DAYS. The bill itself is sitting in a pile of mail that I simply missed opening since they have sent so much promotional garbage it's hard to distinguish their bill from the garbage (unlike AT&T which sends a distinctive bill). They shut the phone off today and sent a text INSISTING I pay the past due bill of One hundred and twenty four dollars which was the ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE or actual usage which included a $40 activation fee that I was not informed about when signing up. When I paid the bill after much wrangling and quite frankly arguing with the Verizon financial services rep, he told me my new bill is for ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FOUR DOLLARS. They DIDN'T include the 250 messages for $5 in my plan, and they charged me $27 for text messages and $2.50 for picture messages at $.25 each. And on top of that a $5.00 late fee for last month.

After about an hour of arguing and being bounced around, they initiated the $5 for 250 messages but I have to pay forward an additional month, and they would ONLY give me a 15% credit on my previous text message bill. No one would budge even though I agreed I would sign in on-line and schedule payment for next Friday, they are scum.

Verizon sucks, worse than I could have ever imagined AT&T sucked. I will either quit them and go to Sprint and pay the $175 fee for early termination or put up with them for two years, but at this point I don't think I can.

2. I was just going to suggest the same thing
Ask for a higher up CS supervisor - they may be a little more inclined to waive the late fees and penalties after you explain what happened. They also have the power to issue credits unlike the lower level folks.

3. Unfortunately all the phone companies in America
acts the same, they are all reading from the same play book.

It really is a waste of time finding a carrier that cater to the needs of it's customer. AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint are all
the same thrash.

4. I quit T-Mobile for Verizon awhile back.
Not too happy with it, am considering switching to Credo, highly recommended by my very progressive daughter and son-in-law. Might be worth checking out.

5. I recently switched from ATT to Verizon and have been very happy with it thus far
I liked ATT, but our apartment is a dead zone and they kept promising that service would be boosted and it never was. At any rate, I'm happy with Verizon so far. Sorry you've had bad experiences--not just with Verizon but with the illness and the car accident. Here's hoping things pick up soon :bounce:.

6. We went through something like that with Verizon....
they would never return our calls about how we could lower our bill until
a few weeks before the contract was up...then they called like twice a day
wanting us to re-up.

We switched to AT&T, picked a 2line plan for around 70 dollars and our bill
hasn't gone up but a couple dollars in 5+ years.

It is a real relief...

Wish we could say the same about our Cable company...They Suck..

12. CREDO has whatever coverage Sprint provides.
CREDO is a Sprint MVNO ("Mobile Virtual Network
Operator).

17. That means they are renting the network
from Sprint which means that I will be getting almost the same deal eventually as we are getting now
from Sprint. Yes? No?

9. They get worse than that.
I have had verizon wireless for 6+ years. 5 months ago we started having no service at our house, with batteries draining overnight because the phones were searching for signal. Found out (quite inadvertently) through the local sherrif's dept that Verizon had decommissioned several towers in our area around the time we started having problems (sherrif's dept knew because someone was stealing wire from the decommissioned tower sites). Verizon would neither confirm nor deny that they had decommissioned any towers in the area. They also never changed their coverage map, which shows my house flooded in 3G signal. After a month or so of phone calls, Verizon decided that my house is in a "known trouble spot" which (coincidentally enough) had never had any trouble at all before they decommissioned those towers. They offered no estimate for when the "trouble" might be resolved. What they did offer is a $260 network extender that I had to buy from them to get service at home. It uses my broadband connection (that I pay another bloodsucking corp for) to handle my calls. And this is how I manage to have mobile phone service at home (again) now. No land line for 7+ years.

And yes, I tried Sprint. They could offer no service at my location, and would not offer a network extender. In the end they recommended I go back to Verizon, so I did. And AT&T? Their coverage map says my address doesn't exist, so I was leery. Had a friend with AT&T service come over. No signal. In the end Verizon got their extra pound of flesh. I hate them for it every day.

10. Virgin Mobile - $45. Month - Unlimited Voice & Text -
- and they have Smart Phones if you want one. You pay monthly or they'll bill you automatically. They're part of Sprint so has same coverage area as Sprint. Have been with them for years as I didn't initially use my cell much. My usage has increased and no way would I change.

16. That's weird, I'm always a week late and they've been great at doing changes
retroactively, though they do charge a month in advance. Sounds like you got some nasty people to work with
