1. So what?
the 99% includes a lot of people who are not Democrats but still have a VITAL interest in stopping the rampage of the financial elites

5. The point that someone else made further down
on the page was that the event represented no politicians, no political ideologies, yet the person persisted in saying that if you think this you must be in favor of so-and-so.

Personally, I would have been unhappy with any candidate named. Events like this should reach out and welcome all. Attempting to put one person out there as was done here may make others think twice. There are plenty of Republicans who don't care for Ron Paul out there, along with Democrats.

2. I am loving that this is like the 6 blind guys describing an elephant
but it seems to bug others that people have come who self-identify with a wide range of groups or figures.

Some seem inflamed when you mention that tea party members and Ron Paul-ites are against the bailouts also.

99% includes these people too.

4. I think the post was meant to point out the opposite...
That the tea party members and Paul-ites think they are the only ones who are against the bailouts.

6. It does include them.
The problem I felt is that the person is trying to say "if you think this then you identify ONLY with this candidate." It turns what should be an open event, meant for the 99%, into what some could perceive to be a Ron Paul rally.

It's not just Dems who don't care for Paul. Plenty of Repubs don't care for the man either. Someone logging in and reading that comment might think twice about attending, thinking it's about party politics instead of what it's really about.

8. fortunately they are wrong and will find that out if they go
this is the ultimate "herd of cats"

occupy and the internet are a marketplace of ideas. bad ideas (Occupy = Ron Paul rally) lose.

10. But I do worry about some will think just that.
After all, it was a relative who passed this link along to me, who received it from someone else.

People in my neck of the woods aren't always all that savvy and some will believe nearly anything they read online. They're good people but they tend to think that everything is a political rally. Someone actually posting about a politician makes them even more wary.

3. Got to love the Paul cultists.
They think their lord and savior is the only one out there fighting against this stuff.

7. And that's what's annoying about it.
Notice the other comments kept party politics and politicians out in an attempt to embrace everyone. Making comments like he did makes the event feel like a Ron Paul rally, which will make many feel excluded.

Then again, if my neighbor thought it was a Paul rally he'd actually show up.

9. No they are not. I was there two weeks ago and have many friends who are going this weekend.
There were a handful of Ron Paulers there, but they are not in anyway a significant presence.

11. I know that and you know that.
The problem is that some who are logging in and trying to find information about something they've heard in passing (the KC rally has been mentioned on a radio station recently) might get turned off if they think it favors someone.

This represents so much more, yet some are trying to turn it into something else.
