1. That's all fine and good for comparison's sake, but the dangers of marijuana are. . .
getting busted.

25. I don't dispute the study.
I just dispute that marijuana is not responsible for even ONE death per year. Pretty simple stuff.

33. Yes and you are right about that. It's psycho active, so if someone already has a tendency
towards neglect or violence, I don't see how pot helps one bit.

It's a tough thing to study because of people mixing substances and such.

If nothing else, I'm sure plenty of people get killed over bad deals involving pot.

So, yes you do have a point.

I would love to know how many 'pot-only' car deaths happen each year, mainly because I'm curious about it.

The 0 deaths from pot claim does in fact seem like a bit of a reach.

I do see your point.

18. Yet you make no snide comments about the people driving around high
on prescription medications. What's up with that? I can guarantee you that there are more people driving dangerously, doped up on pain killers or other prescribed mind altering drugs.

39. Prescription durgs cause numerous deaths annually.
Forget drugged driving, count intentional overdoses, unintentional overdoses, drug interactions and mistakes from taking them.

It is not possible to die from an overdose of pot.

I saw the entire movie years ago and remembered it, I've never picked schrooms so I couldn't tell one from the other, but thanks for the tip.

34. Thanks so much!
My cousin and her son just came back from a trip to Africa, so I'll have to ask her if she ran into any hippos. I doubt I'll be running into many here in NY, LOL, but it's a good thing to know if you're traveling. They look pretty cute and harmless, so I'll remember to give any hippos a wide berth. :scared: :hi:

30. Yes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippopotamus#Aggression

Hippopotamuses are by nature very aggressive animals, especially when young calves are present. Frequent targets of their aggression include crocodiles, which often inhabit the same river habitat as hippos. Nile crocodiles, lions, and spotted hyenas are known to prey on young hippos.<53> Hippos are very aggressive towards humans, whom they commonly attack whether in boats or on land with no apparent provocation.<54> They are widely considered to be one of the most dangerous large animals in Africa.<55><56>

7. This is much more accurate than most things you'll get in your email.
Some of it's stats ring false, but are actually truer than you think, like 550 people killed shopping on Black Friday. You'd think you'd hear about that--but actually it's mostly in car crashes going to or from stores, rather than while actually shopping. And it's covering the entire weekend.

Though we do get deaths from dengue fever and equine encephalitis. We don't have malaria.

Which is good for me, since it is a rare day that I don't feed a few dozen of those blood suckers.

17. Lightning Strikes
An estimated 24,000 people are killed by lightning strikes around the world each year and about 240,000 are injured.<2> In the U.S., between 9 and 10% of those struck die,<3> for an average of 40 to 50 deaths per year (28 in 2008).<4> In the United States, it is the #2 weather killer (second only to floods).<5> The odds of an average person living in the U.S. being struck by lightning in a given year is 1/500,000.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_strike

According to the National Weather Service, during the past 30 years (1979-2008) lightning killed an average of 58 people each year. Documented injuries average about 300 per year, although undocumented injuries are likely to be much higher.

from the deer's perspective we are, of course, a much, much larger threat to them.
