Did anyone else find it somewhat ironic and a little bit offensive
that after what happened in Wisconsin, Obama criticized the CBC for not "putting on their marching shoes"?

1. Yes.
But I'm sure the usual suspects will be along to tell you why we're wrong and how it's all our fault.

2. More that he said that when they were all just back from their jobs tour
where they held real jobs fairs all over the country and lasted about two weeks. That I found offensive.

16. Yes, chastizing some of the most active sectors of his base
for not being active enough while he hides every time we need him to lead is just inexplicable, strange and disappointing.

4. Ever heard of analogies?
Metaphors, figurative speech?
Obama uses literary devices quite frequently. It's intellectually lazy to attack based on literal interpretations.

8. If Obama took a strong stand on the bully pulpit about what happened in WI
and maybe, just maybe, took a little visit, I would consider his analogy/metaphor/figure of speech perfectly legitimate. I would not even look at what shoes he put on to do it and how comfortable they were. But he didn't do that.

The CBC, however, has been extremely active. They are definitely not in their slippers, literally or figuratively. What he said was extremely offensive in that regard.

12. Was Rep. John Lewis present? A civil rights legend being told to...
take off his bedroom slippers and stop complaining...UFB.

13. And intellectually dishonest to defend inept empty rhetoric.
If Obama had been paying the least little bit of attention, he'd have known the CBC wasn't even unpacked yet from their last action.

5. I made that very point in another thread
The two quotes side-by-side are rather revealing, and dispiriting.

7. Didn't catch that one
I thought it was odd that I hadn't heard anyone else say it. Glad I'm not the only one.

10. Let's talk about shoes...
That's quite similar to my initial sentiment when I first heard him say it. I remember actually saying out loud at the TV, "Seriously, you're gonna talk about shoes? Really?" My wife, who doesn't follow politics as closely as I do, was like wtf?

6. Some people who didn't watch the speech fell for that nonsense version of the event.
Interestingly, you are just a little late to help make that point.

15. Rachel Maddow took the Corporate Media on for this. I commend her for it.
Sad that DU fell for the M$M's trickery.

If you watch the video, the crowd was clapping in agreement after every line. No boos. No grumlings.
