Perry says Warren Buffett 'doesn't know what's going on' in private sector
http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2011/09/perry-says-warren-buffett-does.html

Gov. Rick Perry says billionaire investor Warren Buffett is among President Barack Obama's advisers "who really don't have an understanding about what's going on out there in the real world."

Appearing on CNBC's Squawk Box on Thursday morning, Perry was asked specifically if he meant to include Buffett among the allegedly clueless folks the Obama administration listens to, and he said: "I think Mr. Buffett is a really intelligent individual, but I can promise you, he doesn't know what's going on in places that -- where the job creation is at a zero because of overtaxation and overregulation."

Buffett (above, in Bloomberg photo from May 18) has argued Congress should impose higher taxes on the rich as part of a federal debt-reduction strategy.

6. Says the rainmaker....yet Texas drought continues

You came riding in on the sunrise
On a hot west Texas day
With a fancy man in a painted wagon
With some fancy things to say
Looks like you folks need some water
Well water is my game
And for the small price of $100.00
I bet you I could make it rain

Step back non-believers
Or the rain will never come
Someone start that fire burning
Somebody beat the drum
He said some may think I'm crazy
For making all these claims
But I swear before this day is over
You folks are gonna see some rain

They all just stood there staring
Trying to believe
But there was one named Lizzy Cooper
Who said he was a lying cheat
She said you call yourself the Rainman
Well you ought to be ashamed
Starting all these people dreaming
Thinking you can make it rain

Step back non-believers
Or the rain will never come
Someone keep that fire burning
Somebody beat the drum
He said some may think I'm crazy
For making all these claims
But I swear before this day is over
You folks are gonna see some rain

Hey Lizzy
Well a man's gotta have a dream
And if you can't walk on the inside with me
I'll meet you in between
Oh come with me Lizzy
And the stars will write your name
And if you still think I'm lying to you
Look yonder there comes the rain

Step back non-believers
Or the rain will never come
Someone keep that fire burning
Somebody beat the drum...

4. Did the interviewer ask the obvious follow up?
What "overtaxation and overregulation" is Perry referring to? The federal tax burden is at an historic low, and regulations on the books aren't being enforced because of lack of funding of the regulators. Does Rick Perry include people sick with listeria from tainted canteloupe among those people who are overregulated?

And if one of the robber baron sycophants at CNBC actually asked any of that, you could knock me over with a feather.

"...know what's going on in places that -- where the job creation is at a zero because of overtaxation and overregulation."

I don't know what's going on in Narnia, either. It's FICTIONAL.

because he doesn't agree with the Republican ideological mantra. Hey, lets do "0" taxes and see how well this country operates! Lets return to the dark days of feudalism...cuz that's where republicanism wants to take this country.

11. Perry has his marching orders ...
The goal seems to be obvious. They must convince the gullible or uniformed that the only reasons we have a financial and employment crisis are over-taxation and regulation. The assumption then is that more gifts to corporatism will solve our problems. Case closed.

Keeping people distracted from the gross failure of our system and its incredible, rapidly growing inequity is extremely important. Just bringing the absurd and ridiculous into debate is enough to create uncertainty and the corporate media plays on it as if the arguments bear any meaning or value when it comes to solutions.

The facts seem to indicate that enough jobs, and jobs that pay a livable wage are not coming. Things have changed and we are really being called upon to rethink our entire system and bring equity into the picture in a world where jobs and survival are not tantamount. While hardly anyone who is enchanted by the Protestant work ethic will even consider going there, expanding and improving automation, lower consumption, increased productivity and the like have changed the nature of the game and profits are growing exponentially for those who live off of profit itself.

When it comes down to stubbornly holding a view about "more jobs" rather than better distribution of unprecedented abundance, are we going to allow this to come down to who is going to live and who is going to die? If not, then alternatives are going to be essential considerations.

Of course I'm bias with a lot of my relatives attending UT.

The thing is a lot of people will think what Perry said had spoken the truth.
Now that's the scary part.

Even his father was a county commissioner.

But, he knows more about the private sector than Buffett.

15. And I suggest that Perry doesn't know what's going on in his own brain. Perry thinks that SS is a
"Ponzi Scheme" and "unconstitutional," and that he can actually make it rain by praying. Now are we really supposed to trust the judgment of this bona fide lunatic? Perry is a con man, a snake oil salesman and a complete religious fraud.............on second thought, he is not only a complete religious fraud, but rather, he is a complete fraud.

What does Bill Gates really know about Software or Steve Jobs about Hardware.

Sadly, this is not the dumbest thing Perry has ever said.

17. Eh? Obviously Perry doesn't know Buffett.
I don't know exactly how many companies Berkshire Hathaway owns outright, but considering he tries his best to keep up with the general state of the companies, his company managers would be telling him if there is a huge problem with over-taxation and over-regulation.

18. Yes, because Rick Perry's puny wealth compared to Buffett's is a testament that Buffett is stupid.
I'd trust the guy who makes 30 billion in the private sector in finance over some rube from Texas who isn't even one-tenth as successful!
