4. The democratic party ought to think about it's campaign if
We've come back to this defensive play.

& the tea party neutralizes blue dogs in interesting ways.

5. I don't see Pennsylvania going red
Florida very well might and the Republicans might make a serious play for it by selecting Rubio as running mate. I also agree with another poster that Iowa might go blue and Colorado will be very much in play as well. I think you will have to say goodbye to Virginia and North Carolina, but Obama can win without those states.

Ohio will be very close. I'm a little worried right now, though the backlash against SB5 might help energize the base.

It all depends on the nominee. If it's Perry, I'd say Obama will be looking pretty good, but Perry doesn't seem to be doing so hot right now.

6. Silly map. CA, WA, IL, and NY are also "in-play"...
Four huge states that are "on the bubble". If the thugs actually find a viable candidate, '12 will be not just bad, but savage.

ps. I live in OR; a reliably blue state, so I can hold my nose and vote for Obama, without having to campaign for the jerk like I did 3 years ago. But even in "true blue" Oregon, it's possible we will lose OR-1st (David Wu's seat) which has not gone red in 50 years. That is where my time and passion are going.

7. Missouri isn't quite as red as you'd think.
KC and St Louis usually go blue, as does Columbia. Get the party out here to rally the troops and it could go blue-close, but it could happen and wouldn't be as surprising as you think.

I've yet to hear anyone praise a single candidate from the Republican side, even possible candidates like Palin and Christie. Obama's not popular but no one is too happy with the other options around here.

11. I think NC should be added to that list..
Edited on Wed Sep-28-11 05:48 PM by DCBob
cuz if O wins NC, plus the other "expected" blue states, then he can lose FL, OH, and VA and still win with 271 votes.

Mine came up with Dems (with Obama as nominee) getting 180 electoral votes.

That's even more depressing than my earlier prediction of 185.

15. Party like it's 2004
I hope to FSM Obama doesn't make Kerry's mistake and rely on winning those 3, because the repubs have been doing their dirty work for over a decade now and there is no way they will let Obama win them if the national vote is close.
