Standing Against CheneyOn his first visit out of the country, several hundred rowdy protesters greeted Dick Cheney this week when he went to Vancouver to hawk his "memoir" at a book club, with those attending the event having to climb or be hauled over protesters by police. The protests came a week after Human Rights Watch urged the Canadian government to bring criminal charges against Cheney for torture and an illegal war, calling the visit "a rare opportunity to remedy this shameful failure (of the U.S.) to uphold the rule of law.”
"We do this not just for catharsis or out of our own anger at the policies that Cheney carried out while in power with the Bush administration, but also out of a sense of responsibility to international law and historical justice...An injury to one is truly an injury to all."
