1. Without delving into the Google, what I know is...
he has health issues, he's not a popular governor, and he's severely lacking in diplomatic skills (he's rude as hell!)

7. Up now, yes
perhaps due in part to his handling of hurricane Irene. But in June, he was down. So, popularity fluctuates. Although rethugs are not the only voters, I agree they would consider rude an asset. Domestically. But OMG -- think of international diplomacy and nuance! WW3 comin' right up.

9. Can you imagine him telling China it is none of your
business. It would be great to hear it but it wouldn't go over well with the Chinese.

19. Thank Irene for that. But just like with 9/11 & Bush...
it won't last and people will remember what a shitstain Chris Christie is just like people remembered what a dumbass George W. Bush was.

2. 1. Many teachers with many years of experience preemptively retired from teaching
Edited on Wed Sep-28-11 08:08 AM by no_hypocrisy
in order to avoid Christie's new wave of mandatory contribution of their salaries to their and retirement health benefits. Plus, Christie never restored the $15 billion that was taken from the public employees' retirement fund from prior administrations. Public employees not only are shortchanged their retirement funds but with the reallocation of their contributions, they end up paying state taxes twice. Not a word from the Governor.

2. The PATH tunnels (public transportation trains under the Hudson River) are insufficient to move the commuters between NJ and NYC. There were plans to build a second tunnel, it was funded with federal funds (taking the pressure off NJ taxpayers), shovels in the dirt, and Christie unilaterally canceled the project. Didn't try to deal with cost overruns, but canceled it outright with no replacement project. And he's fighting in court to keep the federal money for the project he canceled.

6. Come On We Have To Do Better Than He's Fat And Looks Bad In A Bathing Suit.....
Look at all the crap we have on Mitt, Perry, Bachmann, etc. We need to do better. Does he have any skeletons in his closet? Did he ever write a book and state things that can be picked apart? Any hypocrisies? We need more?

8. I think his health is an issue.

He's the Koch brothers canidate

Months ago, he was rushed to the hospital with breathing problems:

He was experiencing shortness of breath while en route to an event at a farm in central New Jersey. Doctors spent several hours running tests on the 48-year-old, and found it was due to complications from years of being an asthmatic.

Mike Papantonio posed the question, is Chris Christie healthy enough to run for President? Mike explained the importance of the appearance of health, “The less informed voter is more likely to consider appearance and health….The contrast between Obama and Christie would be startling.

Chris Christie is all the rage as we prepare for his Reagan Speech. Word on the street is the alternate title for Christie’s speech is: Rah Rah Defense Spending, Little People Need to Make Sacrifices! ZZZZZZZZZZ. However, it’s sure to be a winner with a rather desperate Tea Party, as it so clearly serves the interests of the elite, so prepare for Reagan red white and blue Teabagging fireworks tonight.

Mike said he thinks Christie could win the nomination because he had no idea Rick Perry was as stupid as he revealed himself to be in the last debate, but Christie could get the low information voters who will vote for Christie because he’s “just like them.”

We’ve been here before. But a certain segment of the population never learns. “Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.”

5. Where To Start??
Jon Stewart nailed it...the rushpublicans are a bunch of teenage girls who can't decide who they want to go to the prom with.

For the CONservatives...or more specific Teabaggers, Christie will get hammered just like Parry (the A or abomination) did on his stance on immigration as well as his ties to big money. He's Rover's boy and that's not gonna play well with those who now feel "the architect" has long ago jumped the shark. He's also defended President Obama in the past...that's also a serious black mark.

For the fundies, he's not christian enough. He's a Catholic...better than a Mormon but still spawn of the anti-pope...

Also with so many "candidates" out there, the "party" is all over the place. The only thing that seems certain is a majority hate Mittens, quietly pine for Grifterella and right now are sniffing Christie's behind. Maybe Animal Planet should do a special on this mating ritual.

10. Let's just put it this way
I Live in Jersey and I HOPE he does run. Way too many to list, but if he runs, he will NEVER win....and he knows it. He is like LePage in Maine...a one term Governor. Off to work I go.

13. How do they feel about him in South Jersey? South of, let's say, Toms River?
I ask and as a Jerseyan, I'm sure you know North Jersey and South Jersey are like two different states. Just curious.

11. He has his strengths and weaknesses like anyone else.
HIS STRENGTHS:

He does get things done. I may not like many of these things he's done but there's no doubt he's done them.

He understands power. His highly publicized and personal thrashing of teachers and other public employees are carefully calculated to appeal to people who feel that their tax dollars (and NJ has the highest property taxes in the nation) are going to lazy, do nothing, pampered public workers. On the other hand if faced with strong opposition, he knows enough to back down. In his first budget he tried to implement drastic cuts to library funding. The libraries mounted a very effective call in campaign from outraged library users and Christie and the Republicans in the legislature backed down quickly. Most funding was restored.

He's articulate and funny on the stump. Let's face it. In the Republican primary he'd be running against a guy who has trouble speaking in complete sentences and another who comes off as so programmed, so essentially un-human that he'd look pretty damn good in comparison.

HIS WEAKNESSES:

First of all he might very well be the flavor of the week but frankly I can't see the southern fundamentalists falling in love with a Catholic from the northeast especially one who's on record for believing in climate change, has never been a big time anti-abortion type

Second, he's inexperienced. He's a half term governor. He's made some big mistakes, such as hanging out in Disney World while his state was hit by a major snowstorm. Until recently his poll numbers in NJ were not so great. His performance during hurricane Irene has helped his ratings.

Third, he's an arrogant bastard. His use of state vehicles for private purposes, his contemptuous treatment of public employees and even private citizens who challenge him is going to backfire on him some day. He might, just might, if he loses his temper, tell some members of the Tea Party and Fundamentalist base that they're all wackos and should get the hell off the planet.

12. He hates unions and is doing everything he can to bust them in NJ. He appoints
his buddies to coveted posts despite decrying the abuses of government. As he guts education, he's poured millions of tax dollars into his buddies casinos and is looking to siphon off billions into Xanadu - a billion dollar unfinished boondoggle next to Giant Stadium.

He's a bully and lives by the typical Republican mantra of 'tax dollars for me, none for thee and if you don't like it, STFU and sit down'.

20. He is too damn fat!
I KNOW it's not nice to tease obese people, but the health consequences are real. If by some SLIM chance he wins, he won't last long, so he'll need a running mate who has some sense.
