Have You Ever Gotten an 'Emergency Preparedness' Phone Call from Your County?
Have you ever gotten a telephone call -pre-recorded- informing you your county will soon have a drill and advising 'you to stock up with at least 3 days of emergency supplies including 3 days worth of clean water, canned foodstuffs, a battery operated radio, and emergency supplies?

The call, claiming to be a notice to citizens of Fulton County GA, was received at my household late this afternoon. My friend answered the phone and repeated the message to me immediately after hanging up. I'd never heard of anything like it. Have you?

1. I've never heard of such a thing even before real, known emergencies.
I've heard that advice before hurricanes on the TV, but never from robocalls.

10. During 911, they didn't even get a message to the Pentagon.
Hijacked airplane on its way to DC ... two buildings already struck ... Pentagon on the flight path ... most secure office building in the US ... constant drills, but on 9/11 ... NO WARNING ISSUED OVER THE INTERCOM?

2. No, but I've gotten "Reverse 911" calls from our local cops, warning of high water.
You might want to call your local non-emergency police number and ask 'em about it.

It's hurricane season, still, after all...that's one way to get people to be a bit prepared.

3. Here in N. CA sitting ON a fault line.... No, never.
We get mailers, but during our 26 years out here Never a call.

Sounds like you need to learn to be AFRAID, or that there is some sort of ballot issue regarding a 'disaster preparedness' situation during which the instigators of the 'terror' (those that profit from it) will do ALL THEY can to seperate you from your family and your $.

F them.

4. This was strange.
Well, I'll get my bud to bring in a bit of bottled water. Fulton County has seriously deteriorating sewer lines. Sometimes our wa-wa smells like feces or pee!

5. Reverse 911 calls are issued in our area during flood warnings and
other emergencies. We've also had tests of the reverse 911 system a time or two. I live in western Washington.

6. No, never. Often they have warnings on the TV
where they beep beep to let you know something is being announced then they have a runner along the top or bottom of the screen. I'm in the Los Angeles area and they will do it sometimes for fires or thunder storms where there is a danger of flooding.

7. I would check with your county emegency management people.
We got a call, reverse 911 Labor Day weekend concerning a fire in the area. It was a recording. None of my cousins who've dropped their land lines got the call on their cell phones.

8. Yes -- from the city manager, warning of
approaching hurricane Charlie. However, it was not a 'drill'. It was real.

12. We get them with hurricanes - we are about 25 miles from the coast
in south Texas. Since we are in a mandatory evacuation zones there are updates on evacuations and services.

13. Not from the county, but ...
... we did get one from the city recently about a series of break-ins in the area, warning us to lock our doors and windows. I don't think our county has such a system.

15. We've never gotten a Pre-Recorded message like that,
..but since my Wife & I are Firefighters and First Responders for a 200sq mile rural area,
we get frequent calls & E-Mail notifications from the Office of Emergency Management.

16. Odd that you should mention this
I'm on an email alert with the county. I've been getting these strange emails lately giving instructions on how to deal with a major emergency. I don't live in an area that would have natural disasters. Just struck me as being odd. Thinking.."do they know something I don't???"

:scared:
