Diebold voting machines can be hacked by remote control
http://www.salon.com/news/politics/elections/2011/09/27/votinghack/index.html

Exclusive: A laboratory shows how an e-voting machine used by a third of all voters can be easily manipulated
By Brad Friedman

It could be one of the most disturbing e-voting machine hacks to date.

Voting machines used by as many as a quarter of American voters heading to the polls in 2012 can be hacked with just $10.50 in parts and an 8th grade science education, according to computer science and security experts at the Vulnerability Assessment Team at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois. The experts say the newly developed hack could change voting results while leaving absolutely no trace of the manipulation behind.

"We believe these man-in-the-middle attacks are potentially possible on a wide variety of electronic voting machines," said Roger Johnston, leader of the assessment team "We think we can do similar things on pretty much every electronic voting machine."

12. But why?

Does anyone understand why the Democratic Party doesn't want to know anything about this? It has always seemed more than a little bit odd to me.

cash-free-campaigns.

This last point...cfc's: all media are required to give free space to candidates, in proportion to poll strength but with some extra given to small fringe candidates to "level things a bit".

IIRC this was/is done in Holland. Parties not allowed to spend ANY cash on ads. Ends the problem of PAC's and GOP advantage with billionaire cash.

Also; many eyes..I like having not only our people watch the counting but also foreign observers. Would get us some credibility overseas as "responsible adults".

Pls memorize these 6 points

21. Absolutely . . ..
. . . Sure, we have to wait longer for results -- but those results are a whole lot harder to manipulate than computer code!

19. Regardless of which hack has been used,
Everyplace that the count is different in places where the votes are machine counted, and checked behind closed doors than in other places where votes are hand counted and checked in view of the public, we know that some type of hack has taken place.

Everyplace where the outcome deviates significantly from exit polls, that time tested methodologies that were always accurate before electronic voting, we know that some type of hack has taken place.

13. Like the RW corporate evoting machine developers don't know this?
Of course they do. Bush (Ohio), Feingold, Max Cleland, Bush took the Texas governorship from Ann Richards when she had a 70% approval rating. Is it magic?

How many other upsets were there in 2008 and prior?

14. Is this a country or a casino?
It seems pretty clear to me that if our votes aren't certain, we might just not be living in a democracy.

It's not voting. It might as well be entertainment. Cast your wish, and see what turns up.

I think we've been over this before, but isn't there some way we can get a national decree, or mandate? I think the answer is it's a state's right. But hell, this isn't trivial by any means.
