Postal Workers Protest Manufactured Crisis Privatization Efforts

Postal workers will protest downsizing, cuts, layoffs and privatization efforts today at Congressional district offices. They’re calling it a manufactured crisis. A 2006 law has mandated the United States Post Office fund FUTURE employees retirements (not current employees, yeah even people not born yet), costing the post office billions and what would otherwise be making a profit. Democracy Now reports, see video below (at link).

Congressional Republicans are so bent on private profit based everything, that they have intentionally given the postal service an impossible and irrational mandate. This is yet another example of the power that private market money has over OUR government. It’s part of a pervasive systematic attack on public employees and unions across the country.

The GOP is bent on putting more people into poverty, as hundreds of thousands of postal workers are looking at losing their jobs. This is not the time to increase unemployment, end contracts the postal service has with business, and increase the cost of postal services for struggling Americans and small businesses. This is ridiculous.
