If you're like me, you have to budget your disgust these days.

At any given moment I am torn between my disgust for toady Republicans, pandering to America's lowest common denominator types, and for Democrats who, for reasons only they must know, roll over, and over, and over, like abused dogs hoping to avoid getting kicked again.

To minimize my anguish I have begun strictly restricting my intake of political news. If a politician pops up on my TV screen, and appears ready to launch into another vacuous, relevance-free diatribe, my finger is poised on the remote button to whisk me to freedom before my blood pressure peaks. Ah, relief, just a button away.

Oh, I know... I'm supposed to remain engaged or ... well, the (domestic) terrorist win.

But with Neville Barack Chamberlain holding the door open for Brown Shirt Republicans, I am forced to look back, rather than forward. Back to when men like this knew how to deal with men like that. Listen, and learn, and ... yearn.
