None of us know what Gov. Christie's medical issues are. Having
said that, attack the man on his policies, his arrogance, whatever but leave his weight out of it. He is never going to be President so why attack the man because of his weight. I would expect this type of rhetoric from the people who boo a gay soldier or a governor that killed almost 300 people. I thought we were better than that..

3. I knew this post was coming.
I'm more concerned with his big head (which is getting bigger by the day thanks to the MSM) than his morbid obesity.

6. he could be overweight, yet healthy...
Though by his own admission, he is not at all physically active and has issues with asthma. Even so, he still might be reasonably healthy, but the questions remain.

Sorry, monmouth, I share your concern about weight becoming a derisive issue, but health and fitness for the job are issues. I firmly believe this is the reality that Cheney realized. A VP with health issues may be ok, but for the President to have major questions regarding their health and ability/stamina to handle the physical and mental stresses of the office are quite another thing. Should not preclude someone, but it should require that questions be answered. And, yes, a slimmer person might not have to answer those questions quite so readily--even though they might actually be less healthy. But, the fact is that morbid obesity is far more likely to be associated with serious health issues. Not always certainly. But the question should be addressed.

11. I think the real issue here is that fat people are often the object of jokes or derision
It's still somewhat ok to make fun of certain types of people in 'polite society.' Some groups are now (thankfully) off limits. But some aren't and fat people are one such group.

Besides, as I've said on other threads, I really think that talking about Christie's weight too much will only garner him sympathy.
