60 Minutes: Why Did 10-Year-Old Boy Murder Jeff Hall, His Neo-Nazi Dad?
When neo-Nazi leader Jeff Hall was shot and killed by his 10-year-old son, attention immediately turned to the California father's extremist views.

A "60 Minutes" report now shows the motives of the murder may have been more complicated -- and yet more commonplace.

Early on the morning of May 1, hours after the family hosted a neo-Nazi gathering in their Riverside, Calif., home, Joseph Hall retrieved a handgun from his father's closet and shot his dad in the head, investigators allege.

At the time of his death, Hall, an unemployed plumber, had turned himself into a rising star in the National Socialist Movement, according to the CBS News program.

There is a 60 Minutes video there that is worth watching.

1. Child abuse
His father was unemployed, growingly frustrated, and took it out on his kids. The 10 year old snapped, shot his father. Being raised as a Nazi had little to do with his decision.

2. Obviously it was Child Abuse but I think the Neo Nazi stuff had a big part of it
From the article:

Megan Hall, the Neo-Nazi leader's sister, said her brother wasn't always violent, but in recent years had beaten both Joseph and his wife "on random occasions."

The thing with these neo-nazi groups is they instill a sense of anger into their followers and tell their members that it's someone elses fault (ie minorities, immigrants, homosexuals) that they can't find a job or earn a living. There is alot of violence in these groups and I think it builds the rage inside those who align themselve with these groups. You start building up that rage you're gonna want something to take it out on and unfortunately the man choose his family since they were the easiest targets.

6. With one qualification/modification, I agree with you.
Building the Nazi psyche does require infliction of anger, hatred, and violence. However, the utilization of the pent-up nihilistic passions is intended to be transferred upon a third-party target, not the host of the violence. This case is remarkable in that the child didn't bully or use violence against a target but rather against his father. The ideal outcome was reverence of his father for toughening the child up and the child accustomed to attacking "the Other".
