Sarah Palin Threatens to Sue ‘Rogue’ Book Publisher
Edited on Mon Sep-26-11 06:45 PM by RamboLiberal
Source: ABC News

Sarah Palin’s family attorney John Tiemessen has written a letter to Maya Mavjee, the publisher of the Crown Publishing Group, a division of Random House, that Palin may sue her, the company, and the book’s author Joe McGinniss “for knowingly publishing false statements” in his book released last week, “The Rogue,” ABC News has learned.

The book was widely panned by critics for using unnamed sources to criticize Palin and her family. Tiemessen cites an email they have access to in which McGinniss writes that attorneys from Crown Publishing told him “nothing I can cite other than my own reporting rises above the level of tawdry gossip. The proof is always just around the corner, but that is a corner nobody has been able to turn” and that McGinniss “ran out of time” to sufficiently source the book.

A source close to the Palins tells ABC News that the “Palins are fighting back and demanding answers from Random House.”

“Random House is at the top of the food chain and published a book based upon acknowledged unsubstantiated gossip,” the source said. “The revealing email is key as evidence of this defamatory approach to politics through proxies.”

1. Reprinting gossip and rumors when it is reported that they
are gossip and rumors and not substantiated isn't libelous toward a public figure. Gossip about public figures is in itself newsworthy. That said, I'm not going to buy this book and don't know and don't care about it.

3. It's all part of the Palins' vendetta to get the names of who
is telling the truth about them so they can cause those people some kind of harm. The book must be full of truth, otherwise why would they be so anxious to stop it?

8. Imagine all the time the Palins spend trying to figure out how
to get revenge on people? A big dark cloud of negativity. Maybe like a cloud, they will disappear :-).

15. I don't blame them. I'm sure they (Palins) are capable of causing
harm to others and have done so in the past. I know it sounds superficial, but Todd Palin looks evil to the bone.

28. First and formost, she's a grifter...
she will never admit to anything and never ever go under oath.

when push comes to shove, it will be "settled out of court" which doesn't mean she will get a dime. more than likely McGinniss will get something.

She can then go on to brag about bullshit and he will go on to write more books.

And during this time, because of the hoo ha she's creating, his book will gain in sales.

either way she loses.

5. It's posturing.
By threatening litigation, the Palin folks think they can diminish the harm of the book's contents. Note that they didn't actually file a lawsuit.

Court is the last place she wants to be. I am sure Random House legal department has reviewed the book very closely.

30. of course it is, grifters never want the bullseye on them...
she's doing it solely for publicity. since her bus right to nowhere failed miserably, she needs a quick shot of faux controversy to pump up her plunging numbers.

This will vanish like a fart in the wind once she sucks all the air out of the room or Random House files a suit against her. Poof! gone.

Sarah would have been better off keeping her trap shut so people would have forgotten about it. Now she's helping promote the book. GO Sarah.

13. I wrote to Simon & Schuster
Edited on Mon Sep-26-11 07:10 PM by catrose
and listed their authors whose books I would never buy again because of some lying piece of Republican bleep book they had published. Someone wrote back some incoherent screed about the freedom to express yourself, which apparently, as far as they're concerned, included lying through your various body parts. Sister Sarah's done her part to lie and defame, but no one went after her, unfortunately.

IOKIYAR to the max.

25. She will lose...
Like him or not, McGinniss, I'm sure has all his sources lined up.

failin quitter is already twisting in the wind, the book only highlights it. her days are done and she knows it. this is nothing more than a "last gasp" for her. She knows that if she doesn't make an issue over this book, her climb to fame and fortune is over. going after McGinniss only extends that climb maybe another year.

And by her going after Random House, signals to me, she's not, or was ever, going to pretend like she was going to run for prez.

I predict in about 10 years, she will either be a has been and relegated to a question on "who wants to be a millionaire": What governor quit mid term because she got tired of governing? 1) failin quitter 2) quitter mcquitter 3) quitasaurus 4) Dan quitastan

34. You know what's going to happen
She's going to claim she was wronged in the book. Faux News is going to do a 47-part series "Was The Valiant Fox News Contributor Governor Sarah Palin Libeled By Heartless Liberals?" WorldNetDaily and Newsmax will pick up the Fox series and give it even more publicity.

Then the shit will get even more and more amplified.

By the time Saint Sarah "drops plans to sue because I don't want to drag my family's name through McGinniss' mud," she comes out looking even better than before and anyone who dares lock horns with the Palins will look worse.

Unfortunately for Sarah Palin, the Batshit Insanity role has been taken over by Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain and Rick Perry.
