2. I think he's in full campaign mode and could not care less about the left or any other Democrats
Yep, he's just flat ass wonderful behind a podium, and its all proves to be worthless words when he gets in a room with a couple of determined Republicans. When he negotiates a good deal, then I'll believe him.

6. Just in case it hasn't been made clear these past 2 1/2 years
there's NO negotiating with Republicans, and whether we like it or not, the President HAS to work with Congress - the TRUE power of our government for domestic policies.

They've successfully taken the House by shoving all the blame for this country's woes onto President Obama with oodles of help of our corporate propaganda media.

The Republicans *know* this, through and through. They also know President Obama doesn't want a gridlocked government during his first term. They *know* this, and used it against him. He circumvented gridlock after gridlock, and yes, gave too much away. But it was either that, or gridlock, because he sure as HELL isn't getting any help from Congressional Democrats, is he?

The Republicans know that. Now, you do, too.

3. Didn't he read the article from Chicago today that said his money base has
dried up here?
That's what happens when you diss the people who voted for you.

8. Actions, not words.
I'm so damned tired of pretenders. I'll vote for the lesser of two evils, once again.

10. Aw Jeezuz! Will people just stop trying to tell us
who he was talking to and how we're supposed to interpret it and blah blah blah. I was there. It was a damn good speech. He was talking to EVERYBODY.

I agree with him. Stop whining and complaining and move on.

11. How Do You Explain Cornel West
Edited on Mon Sep-26-11 05:53 PM by otohara
That brother is so disappointed in President Obama. I say brother, because Mr. West uses it constantly.
Meanwhile the white folks in the media and elsewhere talk about a primary challenge to the first black President.
Like that wouldn't divide the country.

12. President Obama directed his comments to The Congressional Black Caucus
the legislators that are in the HOUSE and SENATE.

He was not talking 'about or to' the general public!

And he DID say names - he 'said': CBC.

14. "They" understand...
Edited on Mon Sep-26-11 06:03 PM by kentuck
I don't think you meant that to be racist? But I think it is the left that may not understand? He was talking to all complainers, in my opinion. He wasn't pointing out the CBC specifically.

17. Here's a transcript excerpt. President Obama said: CBC twice
SNIP

Dr. King once said: “Before we reach the majestic shores of the Promised Land, there is a frustrating and bewildering wilderness ahead. We must still face prodigious hilltops of opposition and gigantic mountains of resistance. But with patient and firm determination we will press on.” (Applause.)

So I don’t know about you, CBC, but the future rewards those who press on. (Applause.) With patient and firm determination, I am going to press on for jobs. (Applause.) I'm going to press on for equality. (Applause.) I'm going to press on for the sake of our children. (Applause.) I'm going to press on for the sake of all those families who are struggling right now. I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself. I don’t have time to complain. I am going to press on. (Applause.)

I expect all of you to march with me and press on. (Applause.) Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. (Applause.) Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on. We’ve got work to do, CBC. (Applause.)

Edited on Mon Sep-26-11 06:05 PM by These Eyes
Apparently, there are some people who will agree with you since black folks don't have enough sense to know who is on their side.
