1. Well, he certainly has his own orbit....!
I think people on the right like him because he can be a mean asshole.

He really is a "Fat Bastard" come to life--angry, vicious, cutting and dismissive. They like that shit on the right.

4. remember Perry was thegreatest thing since sliced bread until he decided to run
he is like that second string QB on a losing team - great because he is not the one fumbling the handoff at the moment.

6. He can talk in complete sentances--that's about it.
Frankly, I think his in your face Jersey 'tude will wear thin rather quickly once he gets south of the Mason Dixon line or west of, well, Trenton.

Remember how a few years ago, Rudy Guiliani was going to sweep the GOP primaries? Of course Christie does not have some of the problems that Guiliani had. I mean he's been pretty consistently conservative on abortion and gay rights, he does not have multiple ex wives trailing around and to the best of my knowledge no one has pictures of him in a dress. He is still abrupt, rude, nasty and obnoxious. These are attributes that may work in Jersey or New York but I think they will not play well in other parts of the country.

He's also not politically experienced. He won against a widely despised Democratic incumbent in Jon Corzine. While he may have earned some brownie points from Jersey voters for his handling of Hurricane Irene--even I liked his call to "get the hell off the beach"--he could still be a one term governor if the New Jersey Democratic party can get their heads out of their anuses and nominate a good candidate to run against him.

7. He talks tough about saving money
I am formerly from NJ and I do not support him at all. However I can see his appeal to certain people who will think he can actually work financial miracles.

On the other hand I see no appeal to the Evangelical right who wanted Perry.

I hope he stays out. He is nasty and ruthless and the race would be very ugly.

He's got a big mouth.
He's authorative.
He's not going to compromise.
He gets his way with a democratic controlled legislature.
He's "not Washington" but local.

Not that I agree with any of these "positives" . . .

He's a bully and there is a certain segment that will gravitate towards a bully.

Christie doesn't care what you call him. If you call him a bully, he'll spin it as being decisive during a crisis that he's been left to fix alone. He even fired another conservative republican that sucked up to him (Brett Schundler). How tough is that?

He's been an opportunist for most of his career. He got the prosecutor's job by helping * raise $ in Jersey and used the momentum to win the governor's seat.

Personally, I wish he had selected another career, say, like acting. I think he'd have been a good Ralph Kramden for a re-make of The Honeymooners.

To the Moon, Alice . . . .

10. The most popular player on any team is the 2nd string quarterback
Everybody likes to criticize the starter for every bad play, every bad break, and every loss. "Oh, none of this would happen if they'd only put in Brad Backup!" There's usually a real good reason the starter is the starter, and Brad Backup is signalling in the plays from the sideline. Sometimes when old Brad finally gets his chance, he performs the way the fans on the call-in shows always thought he could. But far more often, Brad doesn't do his check-offs, doesn't do his reads, and panics in the face of the pass rush and throws more balls to the cheerleaders than he does to his own receivers.

Chris Christie is Brad Backup, and at least he knows that right now he isn't presidential material. That can change, though, as folks keep telling him how terrific they think he is, and like any other human being, he might actually believe it if he hears it often enough.

Flavor of the Month Perry seems to be going the same route as previous Flavors Bachmann and Trump. Time for a new one?

11. Nothing is so great about him, the Republican Party is desperate to...
find someone...ANYONE that they could rally a campaign behind to make it seem like they actually have a chance. They hate Romney, Perry is a time bomb of ignorance, Bachmann, well, just listen to her for a moment. They have NO ONE to rally behind. They are as desperate to find a candidate as they are driven to make Obama a one term president out of hatred.

17. You know when I really got scared of this guy?
Last summer, my lady and I were out in the Pacific Northwest, and we drove through the little towns in Washington state just north of Astoria. I actually saw a bumper sticker on a truck in a small grocery's parking lot that was strongly pro-Christie.

Hey, we knew who the sticker was talking about, but we didn't expect anyone in the town of Chinook, WA to know of him, much less put a sticker on their truck extolling him. I said, as I pointed to the sticker, "This is a bad sign." She's been a Jersey Girl her whole life (even though she and I live on the NY side of the line) and she gasped.

18. He comes off as a Bully
and the Tea-baggers relate to bullies so well.

It won't work, because the first time he mouths off to someone who has had enough of this "trickle-down" economics shit, and his security team can't get there in time, he's going to get sucker-punched in his fat face.

Once that happens, he'll start crying, and the "bully-image" he's cultivated will dry up like Limbaugh's testicles.

He's a bully, but like all bullies, when he's confronted, he'll fold like an accordian.
