Utah Undie Run: Thousands Strip In Salt Like CIty In Protest Of Conservative Laws

SALT LAKE CITY -- Thousands of people stripped to their underwear and ran through Salt Lake City to protest what they called the "uptight" laws of Utah.

Undie Run organizer Nate Porter says the goal of the event Saturday was to organize people frustrated by the conservative nature of state politics.

Nudity was prohibited by organizers. Participants donned bras, panties, nightgowns, swimwear or colorful boxer shorts – and some added political messages by expressing support for causes like gay marriage on their chests, backs or legs.

Salt Lake City is the home of the Mormon church, which is a vocal opponent of gay marriage.

“I think so many people have all these misconceptions about Utahns because the angry, uptight ones are so vocal. And I’d like to see that change, even just a little. I am so sick of hearing all the crazy things Utah is known for, like the liquor laws, and don’t even get me started on Prop. 8,” Nate Porter said. “I want to show a more interesting side of Utah.”

Participants were asked to arrive at the Gallivan Center fully clothed and then strip down to their underwear and, if they chose, donate their clothes to the homeless. Participants were encouraged to advocate for the cause of their choosing during the rally; voter registration was also available at the event.

7. That just looks like the frontrunners

Those look like they're probably the frontruners, so it's not unusual for them to be male. In most races I've run, the top of the overall leaderboard was usually male dominated. Notice that in addition to being all dudes, they're rather fit dudes. Those guys don't look like they would need to run very far to see a girl in her knickers.... The dudes who signed up for the race to see girls in panties are probably closer to the back of the race (or at least they would be if they had any sense at all--the view's better back there!) :)

But, I do see at least one sports bra near the left side of this pic!

9. Salt Lake City isn't as bad as some here make it out to be.

And kudos to the organizers. This is exactly what is needed in cities everywhere.

I like SLC. I'm not religious. Yeah, I've been there.
