Ever get the feeling you're playing an ever less important role in a grand charade?
I guess it's not just me then...

1. All. The. Time. my dear Skip Intro...
I suspect there are many of us out here, wandering in the wilderness...

Just once a day. All day long.

4. Yes
I just wish I knew what would realistically work to change things. I have a feeling it will take a castrophic catalyst.

5. That comes from overestimating your role in the first place.

17. Hah! Good one! Reminds me somewhat of Victorian Thomas Carlyle's
prescription for increasing human happiness (as laid out in 'Sartor Resartus'):

Think of human happiness, Carlyle posited, as a fraction whose numerator is your achievements and effort and whose denominator is your ambitions and expectations. Many people think they can increase their happiness by increasing the numerator. But, Carlyle argues, it is far easier to increase your happiness by decreasing the denominator, i.e., lowering your expectations and ambitions.

6. I feel like I'm not playing any role, at all
I was disqualified from it practically since birth, incapable of hero worshiping movie stars or musicians and incapable of believing any sort of political cant. I'm the disgruntled cynic on the sidelines, resented by anyone caught up in a fashion or fad or belief in dogma, any dogma, as an outsider and a buzzkill.

I'm quite used to it.

But then #OccupyWallStreet started and now I feel empowered. 99 to 1 is good odds.

The epiphany depressed me for months..... actually I'm still depressed about it.

13. Since I stepped away from the charade

not so much.

However, I am very amused by those who still judge life by the old standards. You will only pry their "American Good Life" from their cold dead hands. Or so they believe.

I think there are so many more poor people - who never expected to be poor, who are in denial about being poor, who have spent a lifetime ignoring the poor, and fighting against the poor - who nevertheless cling to their prejudice about other poor people. It's crazy.

But find someone to help, and your role will find you....

16. And this is why:
"I turned on my radio, in the middle of the nite,
And I heard things I need to know, now I can see the light,
And I also see a ghost, cause I'm listening to Coast to Coast."

of representing us, but they are both relentlessly working toward goals that have nothing to do with our well being and everything to do with our exploitation.

The people don't have representation anymore. It's a cruel joke to look to them for any hope for our futures, when the choices are war, enriching the banks and cutting support systems....versus war, enriching the banks, and cutting support systems. Elections have become surreal staged shows, with nightmarish cheerleading for faux teams with faux promises that have nothing to do with reality.

I have never felt more disillusioned about voting in my life.

Support the protesters on Wall Street. Offer support based on actual deeds and results, not the letter after the name. And wake up, educate, everyone you know.
