Dear MSM, I no longer want to hear about Sarah Palin, for I too want this nation to heal.
I too want to live up to the expectations of the people who's lives were lost in the Tucson Tragedy.

Sarah Palin's narcissistic language is often hurtful & divisive. Her dialog does not contribute to more civility in our nation.

Therefore, when you mention her name - or repeat her words, or actions - I am changing the channel. And if that channel is discussing Palin as well, I will again change the channel.

This is not going to be easy for a news junkie like myself, but I am willing to give up listening to the news until you understand that continuously repeating her upsetting words only continues to divide our American Family, not unite us.

Certainly there is enough going on in this country of ours, and in the world, that you can find something else to talk about other than Sarah Palin. How about more stories about the good that Americans are doing to help one another?? That would be a blessed change.

Please do this for Gabby Giffords, Christina and all the other victims of 1/08/11.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please K & R if you want to join me in this. It's the only way to make Palin irrelevant, and that is long overdue.

Thank you! Jill

1. Absolutly K&R. This is what I am saying. All I want from the media is for them
to report real news as the media used to do. Report, don't slant, just give us the facts. I don't consider Palin tweets newsworthy or most of her crap. Other than that if she does something that really is news, its OK to report it as a media outlet.

So you have my K&R to join with you.

2. Thank you! Sometimes I feel like everyone wants her in the news, it's kind of like a car wreck.
You just have to look.

No more Palin car-wreck. Not now after what happened.

3. Not to be insensitive but there hasn't been any other subject on the Gabby Giffords Channel (MSNBC)
all week.
IT's bad enough we seldom get to hear what's going on in the world, let alone without the partisan filter. But there's other stuff going on in the world. We don't need all day continuing coverage of everything that rush and sarah and every rightwing douchegobbler has to say.

4. Some how we have to get the message to them. I've tried emails, obviously that isn't helping. I'm
hoping that going viral (or trying to) just might.

Enough!

5. For a while, I was actually opting for the continuing coverage of the Snowpocalypse here.
It's enough to make you go batty.

We used to get a channel on the dishnetwork called Euro News. It is the example of everything a news network should be. Unfortunately they pulled it from the channel lineup and they don't let people in America watch the stream online.

France 24 is a another good network that you can watch online (in English). It does have some culture and entertainment coverage but aside from that it's mostly news. No car chases, no silly You Tube videos, no little girl stuck in the lucky crane machine.

6. I get the feeling coverage of her is going to fade. However I appreciate the
examination of her horrid video message - I think it is important of MSNBC etc to clearly explain what is going on in that message.

So for me it is a bit early for a Palin media ban. Her rhetoric needs to be exposed.

7. The first step begins with each of us, really.
Not posting any mention of that woman here on DU would be a good first step. Have you counted how many Sarah Palin threads there are that are just complaining about Sarah Palin threads? You have just posted another one of those.

If we all simply stop, perhaps the idea will spread, eh?

8. I'm hoping that once the msm stops, these threads too will stop.
In the meantime there's that unrec feature.

10. You can do nothing about the MSM. You can do something
about your posts. I'm just saying...

9. Wow - even this thread is getting unrec's. Maybe I'm on the wrong side of this.
Whatever.... I'm done with her.

12. You're not on the wrong side & I would do two things with your letter.
First, I'd print up a letter for every major news outlet & mail it to them. Snail mail letters have more weight than email.

Second, send it to your local paper as a LTTE. Maybe others will be inspired to write, too. You never know! One of the topics I'm most passionate about, I learned about from a brief LTTE.

You are not alone, Jill. Many of us would like that vile woman off the tubes. She is a mean-spirited opportunist willing to do anything for a buck. And I agree with you - if the media stopped talking about her, DU would too. The cause & affect is that when they talk about her, we talk about her, not the other way around.

:hi:

11. Well, I am one of the weary who is with you on this.
It's hard to ask for the person in question to be dropped by the media without naming her, so you're in a difficult spot however you call for that. But I am wearied too by what the media sees in her, besides dollar signs at the price of intelligence and civility.
