Two great page-turning political novels
Great books, IMHO:

The Race, by Richard North Patterson...
About a liberal republican running for senate and
then a brutal republican presidential primary.
Written in 2005 and 2006 and published in 2007, amazingly
prescient in so many ways.

The Confession, by John Grisham
A death penalty novel and a race to save the convict's life. Set
in Texas with a corrupt and crazy republican administration
running the state and parole and appeals boards. Will
100% make you want to join the cause to abolish the death
penalty.

2. Also recommend
Interface by Neal Stephenson and J. Frederick George. A satirical political thriller which asks: What if real-time public opinion could be directly input into a presidential candidate's brain?

3. Thanks for the recommendation!
I became a Neal Stephenson fan after reading Anathem and Cryptonomicon; loved the former much more than the latter, but both were wonderful reads. I will definitely look for Interface!

7. Just started "The Confession."
I'm against the death penalty and I have a feeling this book is going to make me very, very angry!

:-(

8. Try Brad Meltzer's First Counsel -
I like some of his books better than others, but the first one was definitely a winner. I also like Baldacci - he's a better writer than Grisham.
