TPTB have decided that Perry can't have the nomination
Edited on Fri Sep-23-11 07:24 PM by senseandsensibility
Republicans all over the airwaves are decrying his "poor" performance in last night's debate. He's been thrown under the bus. However, I saw nothing different about him last night. He was the same smug, cocky, dimwitted and uninformed guy he's always been.

Today all the repug strategists I heard have rediscovered Mitt. He's no longer creepy, strange, or out of touch it seems.

Why would that be, I wonder?

33. You got it
Not much more complicated than that.

Especially looking back. How he comes out of nowhere and we are immediately told by the media that he is THE Tea Party darling. Like, .00000001 of a second after he appears. Funny how that worked. They knew damn well what would happen to Perry right about now.

Charles Krauthammer to hammer Perry down.

I find the propaganda at FNN fascinating.

lose, but I'd take my chances with a Pres. Romney over a Pres. Perry. >shudder<

16. I noticed his poor performance. But I wouldn't go by one debate or one day of disappointment w/him.
It's still very early in their nomination process.

FL is taking a straw poll vote tomorrow. That is a must-win state for the GOP, I hear. The straw poll there is very important. It'll be interesting to see who wins it.

If it's Romney, that's a bad sign for Perry. If Perry wins or w/in MOE with Romney, that is an excellent sign for Perry, given that he's not well known yet, and in light of his Social Security comments, what with a state full of retired people.

20. I agree that the teabaggers haven't turned on him, but
the republican strategists and commentators certainly have. Someone on this thread said that o'reilly just blasted him tonight on his show. And although it will take a while, if they get all of the conservative media on their side, they will be able to sideline him.

37. Tea party - Tea Baggers
Definition of a tea bagger, can't get anything out of them
until they get in hot water, only good for one shot, all wet
and ready for the garbage.

21. It's a three-way fight in Rethuglican land
Each side is trying to triumph over the others - the fundies, the country club establishment types, and the tea partiers. Yes, those groups may make common cause often enough, but they are three distinct groups who are fighting for dominance in the GOP.

The establishment was willing to give Perry a shot (they never felt that way about Bachmann, she was backed solely by the fundies the the tea partiers), but his sloppiness in the debates is too much for them not to hit that button that makes the floor drop out. They know Obama will slaughter him in a one-on-one debate, and they feel that Mittens can hold his own with the President.

Of course, the fundies will have absolutely no part of voting for a Mormon, so if the country clubbers can get the tea party freaks to come over to their side, they will have Romney. However, the tea partiers don't really trust the banker crowd, they know that the establishment types don't care how much we borrow from the Chinese to finance their yachts.

It will be Mitt who goes down in 2012.

23. Perry was...
The best bible-thumpin' true-believin' tea-baggin' stiff they could come up with, sad as it is. I suspect there is panic in the many GOP circles that Romney is not popular in. Lost in the post-debate Perry postmortem is the fact the Mittens stood by Romneycare last night.

24. After failing to ignite a 'grassroot' movement, TBTB needs to draw in the Country club republicans
And Mitt is a whole lot more palatable than the rest of those Yahoos. Funny how their voice hasn't been heard in months.

26. I noticed that too......
Watched about 2 minutes of Morning Joe by accident,
and they were all in poopooPerry mode. It was kind of
obvious. I'm surprised they feel so cocksure of themselves
that they have that kind of control, but I guess they do!

I will tune in for the first 5 minutes sometimes to see which direction he gives out the marching orders to his minions. It's not a pleasant task, but every once in a while the toilet bowl needs to be scrubbed.
