The Republicans do NOT want to reinstate DADT
There's a thread or two on here about the gay soldier who was stupid enough to go to the teabag debate, got booed when he asked if the Republicans wanted to reinstate "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and then heard Rick Santorum say he'd reinstate DADT.

The fact is, they DON'T want to reinstate DADT. None of them. What they WANT, is to reinstate the Reagan-era antigay witch hunts. And if one of those people gets within 50 yards of the Oval Office, that is exactly what will happen.

First of all the gay soldier is NOT stupid.
Secondly, the gay soldier was not at the debate, he was on a VIDEO that was played.
And lastly, YES there are MANY GOPers that DO want to reinstate DADT.

3. No they don't want to reinstate DADT.
They want what they had before DADT.

15. My point is ...
You stated: "No they don't want to reinstate DADT."

The info in comment #10 proves your statement false.

16. You don't know the difference between DADT and pre DADT do you?
Never mind.

Keep flapping...

19. Yes, I do know the difference.
But apparently you did not read the link in comment #10.
There ARE GOPers who want to reinstate the DADT policy.

I don't know if you are confused about the topic we were discussing, or if you are trying to change the subject on purpose :)

20. Oh stop.
Do you ever get tired of beating dead irrelevant horses?

Pathetic if not so irritating.

Further, you don't know the difference.

It is your choice to accept the truth or not.
Have a wonderful weekend.

5. Why is that a fail?
Expecting sense or logic from teabaggers is pretty dumb. If he thought he was going to get any sympathy from that crowd, he was pretty stupid. If he went there to tweak them into divulging another nasty facet of their "let him die!" selfishness, then he was pretty smart -- mission accomplished.

6. He did NOT go there.
He submitted a video, like thousands of other people did.
He was NOT there, the video with his question was played to the candidates and audience.

I applaud him for sending in the question and calling out the GOP!

9. That gay serviceman was far from stupid.
In fact, he had very little to lose, and he made the Republicans look like the assholes they are when they broadcast his question.

10. Five GOP Presidential Candidates Would Reinstate Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
By Igor Volsky on Jun 13, 2011

<..> During tonight’s presidential debate in New Hampshire, however, five of the seven Republicans on stage rebuffed Gates and suggested that they would reinstate the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy:

Santorum
Romney
Pawlenty
Gingrich
Bachmann

18. You just watch
Even those five realize "we're going back to Reagan's policies, DADT is liberal thinking and social experimentation on the military we can ill afford in a time of war" is a position that doesn't sell in the general election. Once they're safely in office and we're stuck with them for a term, they can go with their inner instincts--especially if they get a Republican House and Republican Senate.

11. I'd say the reaction to the question was stupid.
Republicans better get used to these type of questions....there's a whole big part of the country that will be asking a lot more of these questions once the Republicans exit their primary bubble and face all of the voters in this country.

What was stupid, was Rick Santorum's response. (1) No one in the military should be having sex and (2) the main job of the military is protecting the military.

22. Absolutely agree
I have had several people ask if I was glad about the demise of DADT. I am, but I always remind them of the many fine people I saw destroyed during the witch hunts. MUCH worse than the fall out of DADT
