Missing moon rock found among Clinton's papers
An archivist sifting through the papers and memorabilia amassed during former US President Bill Clinton's time as Arkansas governor found a moon rock brought back by the Apollo 17 mission that had mysteriously gone missing.

The rock, which weighs less than half an ounce, was found in one of the roughly 2000 boxes of Clinton materials that are housed in Little Rock, said Bobby Roberts, who directs the Central Arkansas Library System.

"This morning, one of the processors opened up a box and there's the moon rock, out of nowhere," Roberts said.

The rock was collected during the 1972 Apollo 17 mission and was given to the state more than 30 years ago.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette first reported the rock was missing last year. Since then, Roberts said he has been following the news about the moon rock.

2. Cool! It's back, now.
Good for that archivist. He could have pocketed the thing and sold it on the active black market for such rarities. He did the right thing.

4. I had an acquaintance that tried something similar..
Still not sure if it was a hoax or not but it didn't end well for him or a couple of other people that were involved.

It's when you get into proving whether something is an actual Moon rock or not is when you get into trouble.

Anyone who can legitimately verify such a thing is not likely to be interested in screwing with their career by doing so on the black market.

9. Oh, there have been some moon rocks sold in the marketplace.
I don't know about their legitimacy, frankly, and I wasn't directly involved in the matter, either. It just happened at a place where I was buying stock for my mineral specimen business.
