Google and politics
Last night's Republican debate in Florida was sponsored by Fox News and Google. It really worries me when a search engine sponsors any political event. Now, as far as Google is concerned, I have to wonder if Google is tilting my political information searches towards the Republican side. I would be just as worried if I thought a search
engine tilted my searches towards the Democrats side, or any other political party. And Google partnering up to do this with Fox News is also something I am weary of.

I reset my home page to the Yahoo weather page for my city. And if I find out that Yahoo sponsors any political party, I'll switch again.

1. Oh dear. Not Yahoo! They have the most RW slanted news articles on their mail homepage.

Or at least they did.

I agree with you about the sponsorship thing. When in doubt, get more than one opinion.

You could try Metacrawler which professes to search google, yahoo and bing at the same time.

2. Thanks
for the info. I'll start using Metacrawler for my political searches.

Search engines should remain neutral. But the cold reality is that probably none of them are. Google, in association with Fox News, sponsoring a Republican debate is just not acceptable to me.

4. Well if you want one that's at least slanted in your favor....
Hotbot has Rick Santorum's offical page at the bottom of page two of the results!

3. The Google (R) long ago jumped the cred shark.

Now that The Google (R) is snuggling up to Fox Propaganda (R) in such intimate way, with the Republicon Candidate Cavalcade of Clowns (R), no one should have any doubts about who they are or what they are doing to America.

5. It was sponsored by Google because Youtube was a primary resource for questions.
And Google/Youtube have also sponsored CNN (which is left-leaning) debates, too.

It's absurd to get so worked up over it.

6. When I see anything
that I'm associated with hooked up with the words "Fox News", I get worked up.
