1. A lot of times when people are that pre-emptively defensive, I get suspicious.

It's pretty much the opposite of my one-liner threads, one of the purposes of which can be to show enough confidence in my point of view to not decorate it with emotional appeals, and to allow my opponents to discredit themselves by making manipulative tactics like dodging the subject more apparent.
