Elisabetta Canalis: I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur

Photos & video at link.

Italian superstar Elisabetta Canalis bares all for PETA's iconic anti-fur campaign and proudly declares that she'd rather go naked than wear fur. Canalis stripped down and stars in a sexy PETA ad to help spread the word about the cruelty involved in fur. "I decided to go nude because I think that nudity always creates a big reaction," she explains. "That is what is required to keep people's attention on such a brutal practice …. These poor animals are electrocuted, skinned alive, drowned, and bludgeoned just for the sake of fashion."

Every fur coat, vest, hat, or fur-trimmed accessory causes animals an immeasurable amount of suffering. Foxes, minks, rabbits, and even dogs and cats are bludgeoned, stomped, electrocuted, and gassed to death, and many are skinned while still alive. You can help put an end to this unimaginable cruelty by choosing never to buy or wear fur or fur trim. Check out PETA's cruelty-free clothing guide for tips on how to show off your style—without hurting any animals.

See another sexy version of Elisabetta's ad for PETA here.

"Don't buy fur," Canalis urges. "Even a little trim—your gloves or your bag or your jackets …. You must remember that animals don't have a voice. You must be their voice. Never be afraid to speak up."

1. Sorry, but neither Clooney nor Dancing with the Stars nor PETA will make EC a star.

6. Isn't leather a byproduct of the beef industry?
I don't think we kill animals for their "leather," but we do kill them for their fur.

14. Since leather is a byproduct of the meat industry -
some do not feel it is in the same catagory as fur. Fur animals are raised/caught strictly for one purpose.

Many in the Peta anti-fur campaigns also do not use leather, such as Alicia Silverstone and Pam Anderson, while some anti-fur people IRL will wear only vintage leather. No idea aboue Ms. Canalis.

17. How is PETA misogynistic?
They've included both male and female models in their campaign:shrug: Chad Ochocinco, Tony Gonzalez, Gilbert Areanas and many other male athletes.

9. Good for her. I gave all my furs away years ago.
I am a vegetarian. But even before I became a vegetarian, I read about the horrendous deaths the fur-bearing animals experience, so I gave away all the furs that I owned to a charitable organization for people who needed warn clothing for the cold winter days.

19. Psssst...
They can now make footballs from all sorts of material, with rubber being one of the most popular for high school sports.

As for the football in the Ochocinco ad:

"PETA says the football in the photo is made from synthetic material, not leather."

32. what a fuckin laugh. it is not about just a picture. the man uses leather in the game.
Edited on Sat Sep-24-11 10:42 AM by seabeyond
the lingerie girls use leather in the game.

these people are representatives to peta with furs and exploiters in their paycheck.

peta lacks moral and ethical compass if they can be such hypocrites to use anyone that on the one side, decries the abuse through pictures, yet on the otherside, earns a paycheck with abuse.

34. that's a decision made by his employer, over which he has absolutely no say
I don't know what (if any) protest he might have lodged about the use of a leather ball, but am certain it wouldn't have any effect anyway. I don't think it automatically makes him a hypocrite.

At any rate, I was simply responding to your assertion that the ball in the picture had to be a leather ball.

I don't know anything about the lingerie girls--did they have a PETA ad too?

35. then it really has little meaning if he does not allow the fight against the abuse of animals to
effect/touch his life. he is all mouth, and no action. all hat, no cattle, lol. that is what integrity is about. you oppose, then you oppose in all ways even if it has an effect on your life, or income. otherwise, .... hypocrite.

while looking into this whole football issue (which i dont believe peta at all since they are not beyond lacking integrity and morals themselves) (what happens when you play in gutter, people tend to not believe) i also saw how the fantasy lingerie football girls... you know, grown women that strip into nothing play at playing football to entertain men, also did an ad with people, holding a footie footie football.

21. Save the Wetlands: Wear Nutria Fur
Nutria pelts when processed are smooth like seal and take colors well. They make nice coats and other fur products. In addition wearing nutria can help save the coastal wetlands:
