Tacoma teachers, school district reach tentative agreement

http://www.komonews.com/news/local/130269048.html?abc=r8gyUxy9

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Negotiators have reached a deal to end a teachers strike that forced the cancellation of more than a week of school in Tacoma.

Both sides said in a news conference late Wednesday night that they're pleased with the agreement. Teachers will have an opportunity to vote on the deal Thursday in hopes of restarting classes Friday.

The deal comes after more than seven hours of talks at the office of Gov. Chris Gregoire . She has no direct control over Washington schools but stepped in to use her influence as a mediator.

Negotiators declined to immediately discuss the details of the agreement. The two sides have been disputing issues including pay and class size, but the major sticking point is how the district handles teacher transfers.

2. The court has not yet said what it will do about the contempt issue
and any agreement they make is not binding on the court.

4. The judge is a wildcard and can do pretty much what he pleases
He could shrug it off, he could break the union.
