Protestors gather outside The White House demanding a last-minute intervention for Troy Davis - pics

Student protestors from Howard University demonstrate outside the White House September 21, 2011, demanding a last-minute intervention on behalf of Troy Davis, the Georgia death row inmate whose contention of innocence has drawn global attention and is scheduled for execution at 7:00pm September 21, 2011.

1. Oh goodie! Another chance to blame Obama for something (that he has nothing to do with)
If these protestors knew what the hell they were doing they would be in Atlanta or in front of the Georgia state prison.

But whatever, they get another chance to bash Obama, so why not!

Maybe they need to take a quickie course in US Government too.

2. Perhaps they live in DC and feel that the WH is where they will get the most coverage. Not
everything is anti-Obama.

5. That is the way I see it.
They are just trying to bring attention to the situation.

10. Why are they at the WH which has no jurisdiction in the matter instead
of the SC about a mile away that can do something about it? I think the protestors are making this about the administration by choosing to protest there.

12. Oh bullshit.
It's a place people go to protest the cracks on their walls. Not everyone is out to get Obama.

3. It would be politcal suicide for Obama to intervene
There is absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose... similar to the Terry Schaivo case when the republicans got punked.

4. When Troy is dead, and gone, we will still all be asking who murdered that police officer.
Doesn't this strike anyone as insane? It is insane. Kill a man who may very well have had nothing to do with the crime, for reasons unknown.

It will not be over when Troy is dead.

8. Quiet you.
You and your facts can just go back to Factland when your ilk belong.

9. I don't believe the POTUS has any authority to intervene.
Supreme Court is the only hope and we are obviously getting down to the wire.

11. Obama can't do a damn thing here.

The President can only pardon federal crimes, murder is a state crime, thus the President had no jurisdiction. Article two of the Constitution says: "shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, , except in Cases of Impeachment." Unfortunately Davis was convicted in a state court, thus his crime is against the state of Georgia.
