Jamey Rodemeyer, 14, Dies in Suicide

Another tragic reminder that bullying against gay youth is a continuing problem comes with the suicide of a 14-year-old boy, Jamey Rodemeyer, who had asked for help repeatedly.

The Buffalo, New York, teen died on Sunday, his body found later outside his home after an apparent suicide, according to the Buffalo News. His death followed not only taping his own It Gets Better video, but also blogging on Tumblr about the bullying at school that just wouldn't stop.

"I always say how bullied I am, but no one listens," he wrote on September 9. "What do I have to do so people will listen to me?"

In May, he was on a high after coming out to friends, and he pointed to the support from people online as the reason it gets better.

Enough is NOT beibg done! Another tragic life ended at such a young age. I feel for every step forward we take, we end up going back two steps.

or any of the other hateful, snide terms that many people here use for our lives.

Anyone who would dismiss another person's humanity in such terms is no liberal, or even a decent human being, for that matter.

God forbid we put positive role models on TV for the GLBT community so children can see it's ok to be who you are. No wonder bullies feel it's ok to tease & taunt GLBT children.

BTW the professor was someone who Bill O'Reilly dug up for his show.

12. The son of a friend here in North Georgia

committed suicide because he was bullied because of his weight. He took his father's 22-caliber gun to school, stood up in class, said he wasn't going to take it any more and shot himself in the head. He was only 15.
