Whatever happened to that supposedly imminent terror attack on the 10th anniversary of 9/11?
Wasn't there a huge concern about truck bombs going off 10 days ago on the anniversary of 9/11? I seem to recall quite a bit of hysteria. Did the Feds capture the would-be terrorists? Or was the whole thing a crock of shit designed to frighten folks on the 10th anniversary of 9/11?

This is why I don't pay attention to these terrorism warnings anymore. Much like the color coded terror alerts, they are designed to keep the populace living in a constant state of fear in order to distract us from the real issues that affect Americans.

1. The "specific and credible" 'threat' was cancelled that afternoon

2. It was an appropriate and quite excellent recruitment of a gazillion sets of eyes and ears.
This is as far as I can recall the first and only time an urgent threat level has been issued by this administration. There is no reason to believe it was used politically.

I was amazed when the FBI caught the douche that left a bomb on the MLK, Jr. parade route. That was a job well done.

starting to receive some criticism. Obama wanted people to focus on his proposed jobs bill. Why would he go to all the effort of making a Congressional Address, only to cut into his message with a phony terror alert? My impression was that no one in government was certain there was a problem, but that there was enough information to warrant taking extra precautions just in case.

5. Terrorists tend to focus on anniversary dates that they see as important.
read up on Timothy McVeigh as one example.

6. I'm wondering if an Islamic terrorist organization would use the Western or Islamic calender to
determine anniversary dates?

15. Whatever would have the greatest effect on the targeted population.
That is ultimately the point, you seek to terrorize people and create fear in people undertaking their daily lives.

If they were going to do something on the anniversary of 9/11 because of the date, they'd use the western calendar.

16. Agree ... and I'd add, they also pick based on propaganda value.
So certain targets carry a symbolic attack value, as do certain dates. And so if they can combine on those points, they'll do so.

Feds: Zawahiri Launched Al Qaeda Terror Plot for 9/11 Anniversary

U.S. authorities are scrambling to sort through information that the CIA developed in the past 24 hours indicating that at least three individuals entered the U.S. in August by air with the intent to launch a vehicle-borne attack against Washington, D.C. or New York around the anniversary of 9/11, according to intelligence officials.

Officials say the alleged terror plot was initiated by new al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden's successor, who had pledged to avenge bin Laden's death earlier this year in a U.S. raid.

Intelligence and law enforcement officials told ABC News that at least one of the individuals is a U.S. citizen and one official said that two of the individuals may have had U.S. documentation -- whether green cards or passports was unclear.

The threat was described as specific and credible by federal officials. "Al Qaeda has shown an interest in important dates and anniversaries. In this instance it is accurate that there is credible, specific but unconfirmed information," said Janice Fedarcyk, FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the New York office, at a Thursday evening press conference.

The whole thing sounds like a made up fairy tale. I can't believe people still buy this bullshit.

11. What happened was that a competent administration took care of it
As opposed to what happened 10 years ago with an incompetent administration allowing an attack to happen.

13. Ask yourself if it is incompetent
when an administration gets everything it wanted and planned for.
