Police have charged a man suspected of shooting his wife and a 10-year-old girl outside a Rockdale County daycare center on Tuesday morning with two counts of aggravated assault.
The victims are said to be in serious condition at Atlanta-area hospitals.
Their alleged shooter, Terrence Sherod Roberson, 36, walked into the Newton County Sheriff's office in Covington and surrendered more than three hours after the 6:30 a.m. shooting.
Rockdale Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jodi Shupe said the woman was dropping her daughter off at the Little Mountain Christian Academy -- located on Ga. 155 near the Henry County line -- where she was to catch a bus to Lorraine Elementary School. As they sat in the car Roberson approached and began firing. The woman "ran inside and started screaming for help," Shupe said.
