Yahoo Appears To Be Censoring Email Messages on Wall St Protests
http://thinkprogress.org/media/2011/09/20/323856/yahoo-censoring-occupy-wall-street-protests/

Thinking about e-mailing your friends and neighbors about the protests against Wall Street happening right now? If you have a Yahoo e-mail account, think again. ThinkProgress has reviewed claims that Yahoo is censoring e-mails relating to the protest and found that after several attempts on multiple accounts, we too were prevented from sending messages about the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrations…

… ThinkProgress tried other protest websites, like AmericansforProsperity.org and TeaPartyPatriots.org, and both messages were sent smoothly. However, emails relating to the OccupyWallSt.org protest were blocked with the following message (emphasis added):
Your message was not sent
Suspicious activity has been detected on your account. To protect your account and our users, your message has not been sent.
If this error continues, please contact Yahoo! Customer Care for further help.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
ThinkProgress has sent a request for more information to Yahoo, and will post any reply once we have received it with Yahoo’s explanation for its apparent censorship.

12. I used to get angry. Now I'm just amused
When I look at the posts here with an objective eye I just see so many examples of the very thing we all seem to be railing against. Sure, our liberal philosophy is the better choice, but does that justify ignoring facts for the sake of sensationalism? Isn't that what we so often condemn the other side for?

I just have to chuckle as I watch the same techniques of propaganda being employed on BOTH sides.

18. If my post "amused" you… why you sanctimoniously bother to whine about it?
Edited on Tue Sep-20-11 06:37 PM by Lost-in-FL
Just say that it annoyed you and stop being such a hypocrite. Don't you $@% read that it says "appears" in the title?

If you cared to look at posts with "an objective eye" (cough, cough…) as you said you do, you wouldn't dismiss so quickly the fact that blocking liberal messages from being distribuited by a server on behalf of the establishment wouldn't be something to be "shocked" or surprised about. The fact that you are annoyed means that you still live in denial that something such as this could happen in the US of A. It is time to stop being an "spectator" (a sheep) or take your rose tinted glasses checked for a new prescription.

We have seen elections stolen right on front of our faces, we have seen Liberal TV personalities taken off the air for mere bull shit when compared to what the teahadist have said on national media against liberals, we have seen liberal organizations not being able to have their commercials run on TV even when they have unlimited amounts of cash to pay... and now you sit down and get "amused" by the fact that a liberal board encountered something suspicious being played out by Yahoo? In what bubble are you living? Who said that we are "pissed off"? What is so bad about being cautious?

When there are presidential hopefuls "bragging" about their "business experience" or being business owners and are prepared to send our government down the drain to please Wall St. contributors (like Yahoo!) don't you think it would be irresponsibly stupid on our part to dismiss suspicious activity against liberal groups?

7. It was apparently an unintentional error
Yahoo’s customer care Twitter account acknowledges blocking the emails, but says it was an unintentional error:

“We apologize 4 blocking ‘occupywallst.org’ It was not intentional & caught by our spam filters. It is resolved, but may be a residual delay.”

Yahoo’s main Twitter account adds:

“Thanks to @YahooMail users & @ThinkProgress for catching problem w/ #Occupywallst.org mail. Prob is fixed, but there may be residual delays.”

8. Has anyone seen any media coverage of those protests?
I've only seen them reported on Amy Goodman's Democracy Now and on Thom Hartmann's show. I've watched for coverage of them on the other cable news channels and I haven't heard a peep about those protests. Has anyone seen any mention of them? I thought surely that Rev. Al Sharpton would bring them up.

14. Appears, TP is being responsible
it could be an error on their account. But it could also be a server level filter.
