2. I go in for an appointment next month...
I should be able to get it then.

Flu shots have worked well for me over the years. My daughter is one of those who say that flu shots make her ill.

year. My doctor was kind of "eh" about me getting it the shot. As far as I know, I have never had the flu in my life. That of course doesn't mean I won't catch it, but I play hard to get; I don't pick up just any bug that's floating around.

16. Being allergic to eggs is a good reason not to get a flu shot.
That means the rest of us who can should to cut down the chances you'll get exposed.

7. No, but I probably will. My wife recently got a job giving people flu shots.
The pay is really good for our town, but she gets mildly harassed by anti-vaccine folks from time to time. She has been accused of spreading AIDS, and injecting people with monkey pus. We have had a good laugh over the monkey pus.

Didn't go last year, and was sick as hell for a week. Not a good way to ring in the new year.

Just don't want one. I'll take my chances.

Plus, I remember the big flu scare back in 1976. Forget if it was Swine or Asian or whatever strain. My mom got a shot and was sick as a dog for a long time. So, no thanks.

21. I have never seen a good explanation of whether or not the
vaccines given out that year were different from those before or since.

32. That's true, but given that the method of making the vaccine
was supposedly the same, what was the difference that year? Or was there an actual difference? For example, there were cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome blamed on the shot, but was the perceived association an illusion?

25. I'd say the best way to protect high risk populations is to vaccinate those
around them; especially small children.

However, I AM on par with Lady MacBeth in the hand-washing department.

34. Got it
my daughter's pediatrician suggested my husband and I get it early to protect her in case the flu starts before her next appt. He didn't want to give it to her at her 9 month appt. and suggested waiting for her 1 year... which is in a couple of months. So, we got ours last week.
