Media owned by tptb..and so are we until we turn them off
We receive daily instruction from the msm on what to think, what issues are important, who and what we should be focusing on...it is obscene and the greatest and most successful group mind control experiment ever..
Until we turn them off..we are at their mercy. That is just a fact. We don't get real news..we get what they deem important to their agenda.
It's been almost 3 years without a tv for me. I watch Al Jazeera and RT on the net. It is possible to watch whatever you want on the net...without the constant barrage of controlled opinion. No one wants to do it...actually turn it off. I've posted this before and am amazed at the resistance. I firmly believe that is the key to our future. Turn them off.
When I come here to DU, I can tell who the tv junkies are just by their posts and what gets them upset..distracted. That's their mo...distract us..keep us stupid..give really stupid people a platform and tell us those are our choices. Not true. It is true only if we let them continue controlling us..all of us. Turn them off.

1. I have been TV free
for about twelve years now and encourage others to consider it. Surprisingly, a few people have given it a try and noticed the difference.

If the numbers of satellite/cable TV cancellations increase, (though some have to for economic reasons) that's a vote against the mass media propaganda machine.

However, considering that many people have grown-up addicted to mainstream media, it can be like kicking heroin, so keep that in mind.

McPravada influences our culture, politics, economics, etc., significantly. And yes, they have their own agenda to promote and emphasize, not ours.

3. yes..it is an addiction sprinkled with celebrity scandal .. it has been carefully constructed
to seduce and shepherd us to group think and actual word choices.. including who our enemies are. It is obscene and so obvious once you make a conscious choice to be removed from their daily agenda. There are major think tanks determining not only what to sell but focusing on ways to divide us and control us.
It is possible to see it at work. When I see a meme being spread about an incident or event almost immediately before much thought is given to it, I know it is tptb at work. 'liberal media' is a perfect example; the banksters deflecting attention from themselves and blaming the poor who took out subprimes as the culprit of the housing collapse is a talking point that is so ingrained that it will always be a part of the dialogue..peanuts in comparison to the larger corruption; wmd in iraq..while there were none..a huge part of this country still believes there were. whatever it is, it makes the rounds...people become misinformed and stay that way.

that's the plan

8. So if you've been TV free for 12 years have you formed your opinion
of media based on what other people have feed you? Don't you think that they may have a "controlled opinion", or possibly even an agenda of their own?

I prefer to judge for myself and I'm not arrogant enough to believe that everyone else is too stupid to do so.

just try it..see if there is a difference in anything YOU think or see..that's all..just try it in today's climate

11. Al Jazeera is going to broadcast my local news?
I can watch the news & form my own opinions. Msm doesn't tell me what to do or think. Why are you telling me what to do & think?

10. I don't think Rachel or Olbermann are stupid. You just have to watch the intelligent ones.
And never ever watch FOX propaganda and you'll be safe. Besides, there are other programs other than news programs that your family might enjoy.

2. And you don't think Al Jazeera has a "controlled opinion"?
What makes them immune from a point of view, or is it just that they aren't us so they must be good?

4. intelligent journalism...nothing is perfect and i didn't say immune.but if there is a difference,
that would be it. Also, an expectation by them that their viewers have evolved beyond neanderthals.

12. At least in the early years, they had to prove themselves
as a credible news source. I haven't watched them for a long time, so I can't comment on their current state.

6. agreed 100 percent....
Turn it OFF! I've been TV free for decades now, and on the odd occasions when I do watch it, like in hotel rooms and such, it is utterly appalling. I cannot fathom why people remain addicted to the squawking box-- even after a short time away it begins to look silly and shallow, at best, and dangerous at worst.

13. We are the product they sell. Interesting concept.and it explains a lot.
We complain about the "product" that they offer to us but the reality is that we, the viewers, are the "product" that they sell to advertisers. They only offer shows in order to get us to watch so that they can "sell" our viewing to advertisers.

Think about it and see if you don't agree.

15. tv started the brainwashing, and newer technologies are killing the ability to FOCUS
Any wonder why stations are coming up with reality shows about pigherders, and hoarders?

It's only a matter of time before Fox premeirs it's own version of *Ow My Balls*...

(Idiocracy reference)
