i want to thank Dan Choi,Beth Schissel, Shonda Garrison, Grethe Cammermeyer &
all the other lgbtiq service members who fought so long and hard to end DADT.

you had to over come 'friend' & foe alike to achieve this.

you have my gratitude and i am in awe of your terrific courage -- you have prevailed.

2. Because he fought "long and hard"?
that's insulting to those who did.

10. I don't hate Obama - I voted for him.
But it's just silly to say he worked long & hard on DADT - the LGBTQ groups put a lot of pressure on him to do this and he has not been a proponent of gay marriage.

22. The inability of some to give the president even an iota of credit on this is amazing.

"This year, I will work with Congress and our military to finally repeal the law that denies gay Americans the right to serve the country they love because of who they are. It's the right thing to do."

28. I'm trying to think of something more inappropriate and more ham-fisted
than you coming into this thread to berate other posters for not giving Obama enough credit for this hard won victory of the GLBT community, but I got nothing. The prize is yours.

9. Now the US has caught up to where Canada was in 1992.
Edited on Tue Sep-20-11 08:27 AM by murphyj87
LGBT have served openly in the Canadian military since 1992 and marriage equality has been the law nationwide in Canada since 2005. Marriage in Canada is defined by law as "the union of two persons to the exclusion of all others".

The US has still not advanced to where health care in Canada has been since 1966.
