Let's see, the Republican Party wants to privatize...or here's the alternative term to appeal to average Americans courtesy of Thom Hartmann "profitize"...Medicare and Social Security. Basically profits for Wall Street fat cats and health care CEOs are more important to them than supporting American working-class families and seniors. And yet that party dares market itself with family photos of candidates/politicians and take moral superiority? And then they will stand behind illegal, unnecessary wars where foreign civilian death has so far exceeded deaths from 9/11. And torture of Guantanamo prisoners not yet convicted of crimes even though American citizens held for trial never get such bad treatment. Not even Timothy McVeigh or Eric Rudolph! I could go on and on. Conservatives are more likely to laugh at racist/sexist jokes and dismiss critics as "politically correct"...their term for people who actually can THINK and have sensitivity for others. More likely to respond to a woman who was raped, "she shouldn't have worn so little." More likely to broad-brush minorities over a single crime story involving a black or brown suspect they see in the news. And look at the hysteria over the transgender Chaz Bono on Dancing with the Stars! Yes, some conservatives have finally given in and supported same sex marriage (Grover Norquist for example) but Brent Bozell and Bryan Fischer, two mainstream conservative commentators, did make statements condemning Bono. And how the christian fundamentalists will act defensively whenever schools combat anti-gay bullying. Why oh why are conservatives so greedy and self-centered and yet they can claim the moral high ground in everything?
