This president has a history
Edited on Mon Sep-19-11 06:19 PM by Stinky The Clown
In light of the current talk of cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, I am instantly taken back to the run up to the passing of the healthcare "reform" bill. It started with Obama himself talking about plain old single payer. Lots of people like to deny that he ever spoke of this, but most us know, really, that just isn't the truth.

From there, we went to that wonderful, ill defined term, the "public option." That was the plan that was so vague that we were all free to imagine it smelling like roses. We still don't really know what it was, specifically. Yes, there are lots of places where it is purported to be defined, but, again, we all know it really was pretty amorphous.

So now we're on to Medicare and Medicaid.

There will be "negotiations" with Congress.

I have no confidence that Obama has peoples' back on this.

Groups of you will call this hand wringing. I call it a realistic assumption of one possible outcome.

3. Yes, indeed
I don't listen to this president because I can't believe him.

And since I can't believe him I don't trust him.

He has not been my champion.

Why should I expect that to change?

9. ACME
is cheap imported Chinese crap made by kids working in a sweatshop.

Dangerous stuff and it doesn't work particularly well.

4. I am on Medicare and I'd like to point out the fact that....
it only really covers "big box" medicine. IOW, if I want homeopathic, herbal, acupuncuture, I have to pay myself. I'm not really happy with that. I pay almost $100 for Medicare, but still spend $100 for Traditional Chinese Medicine, which includes acupuncture, diet, exercise and herbs. I have had better results with TCM than Big Box, but it comes out of my pocket.

14. The carefully parsed language is back. He won't allow the deficit to be born by ONLY the middle

class. He will veto any bill that reduces social benefits that doesn't ALSO increase taxes on the wealthy. Start at the wildly unbalanced status quo, then split things even Steven.

I hear people raising the tired "just wait" rationale. We will, because we have no choice. But the painfully precise language is no accident.

34. Don't you read DU? We are political junkies,
many that have paid attention for decades or multiple generations.

I have given you a pass at DU for years. My life experience far surpasses yours as evidents because of your age and avatar.

Disappointed. Why insult me? We are one the same side I think.

26. Count on it.

Ya know it's a done deal, the theatrics will decide the final form.

The only question is whether the Republicans can get the TPs to go along with a miniscule symbolic hike in taxes on the wealthy, a trifle really, or if the 'Super' gets to wield the meat ax itself.

All of the powers in DC work against the people.
