Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s interview with a French television station was nothing but “a publicity stunt,” a lawyer for the woman who accused him of sexual assault said on Monday.
Mr. Thompson, who is pursuing a civil lawsuit against Mr. Strauss-Kahn despite the decision by the Manhattan district attorney’s office to drop criminal charges, said that Sunday’s interview “was geared toward putting Mr. Strauss-Kahn in the most sympathetic light.”
“He gave an interview with his wife’s best friend,” Mr. Thompson said. “That’s not a real interview.”
The interview on the French station TF1 was the first extensive public comments from Mr. Strauss-Kahn, 62, since his arrest in mid-May, when he was still leader of the International Monetary Fund. He was interviewed by the anchor Claire Chazal, a close friend of his wife Anne Sinclair, who herself was a popular television interviewer in France.
