Wendy's changes its burgers
"When Wendy's decided to remake its 42-year-old hamburger, the chain agonized over every detail. A pickle chemist was consulted. Customers were quizzed on their lettuce knowledge. And executives went on a cross-country burger-eating tour.

The result? Dave's Hot 'N Juicy, named after late Wendy's founder Dave Thomas. The burger — with extra cheese, a thicker beef patty, a buttered bun, and hold the mustard, among other changes — will be served in restaurants starting Monday.

"Our food was already good," said Denny Lynch, a Wendy's spokesman. "We wanted it to be better. Isn't that what long-term brands do? They reinvent themselves."

For Wendy's Co., based in Dublin, Ohio, reinvention is critical. That's why executives at the 6,600-restaurant chain spent the past two and a half years going over burger minutiae during an undertaking they call Project Gold Hamburger. That included deciding whether to switch from white onions on its burgers to red (they did), to change the fat/lean ratio of the meat (they didn't), or to go with plain or crinkled pickles (they picked crinkled.)"

31. If you ever get to 9 mile and Harper, the Shish Kabob place across from the K-Mart
is a building shaped like a barn, it was once a Red Barn restaurant.

I can't think of any others off hand but a few of the buildings are still around.

35. I can't stand the new fries, and I won't eat them.
Way too much salt (and I don't care if it is 'sea salt' -- that just means that the contaminants are included).

And since I've stopped eating burgers, the chicken sandwiches and baked potatoes are the only thing from Wendy's that I ever eat. (I also liked their fish sandwiches, but those are only available 'in season' -- whatever that means to them.) So I hardly ever go to Wendy's anymore. (When I ate burgers, I did like Wendy's burgers -- with mustard.)

And I eat at Wendy's often. And frankly, I prefer the flat pickles. The "crinkly" ones are too thick.

I think the hamburger patties will be thicker but not as wide as the old ones. The Single burger will still be 1/4 pound.

9. I can't stand red onions. Hooray for crinkled pickles, at least. The new fries are alright but like

all fries FRESHNESS is the most important factor. Their old fries were good too if you got them fresh out of the fryer.

Of the cheap national burger chains, theirs tastes the best. Five Guys gets my vote for the higher-priced 'gourmet' chain burger, though.

17. Stopped at a Wendy's the other day and had a regular burger
When did they start putting bread & butter pickles on them? If I have to do fast food, I'll go there rather than feel like I'm poisoning myself eating at McDonalds. Thank goodness it's not that often.

Right now they have an apple pecan chicken salad, which is very good and pretty healthy. Have to watch the pecans and dressing, though.

also i wish they would allow the chicken nuggets to be used on their salads instead of the chicken they usually use.

i do like the cobb salad and i like the dressing with avacado flavor.

(Five Guys and the ilk don't count because...heck I dunno. They seem too upscale)

Anyway, I have always liked the Wendy's burger. It isn't a butterburger but what is?

43. Wendy's is one of those places, like Walmart, that don't seem to exist where I live,
in Los Angeles. I once ate at a Wendy's, about 25 years ago, out by the 101, near, maybe, Kanan Road. It is no longer there, as far as I can tell. I've seen the Walmart sign in Duarte, near City of Hope, from a distance, but have never actually seen, or been in, a Walmart.
