Did Anybody Watch "Up with Chris Hayes" This Weekend?

I didn't because it's on at some ungodly hour (like 7 AM ET) and there's no way I would wake up at 4 AM PT to watch news. So, being a fan of Mr Hayes' work generally, I decided to check it out online at http://upwithchrishayes.msnbc.msn.com/">MSNBC's site. And guess what? It's really good. Like very, very good. I wanted to watch his interview with Rachel first, but that was engaging enough to convince me to stay around.

One of the best things about the show, besides the fact that I really learned things--in ways that were both wonky and funny--was that the people around the table were not the same old faces. In fact, during his roundtable segments, he was the ONLY white man at the table. How often does that happen? And, even better, the discussion showed why the diversity of voices is actually important and why the Sunday morning chatfests fail to serve our interests.

8. I saw it Sat. and enjoyed it very much, but my one complaint

is he's too exuberant...almost seems like someone on a high. He needs to calm down a little. I understand his enthusiasm as it was his first day of his very own show. Don't blame him for being excited...but he needs to calm down in the future.

His show was excellent but he sure has stiff competition on Sunday. I wish they'd put him on after Chris Matthews on Sun. and replace some of those awful prison shows.

9. I only got a DVR recently

and am not yet useed to the idea of recording. But I will try to remember Friday to give my DVR a try (because I am not going to wake up on Saturday at that ungodly hour, though I am on Central time, so it's a bit better fro me). Thanks for the reminder and heads up.

18. It was fantastic. He expressed his opinions without interrupting.

The discussion was great: reminiscent of the old Washington Week in Review when Peter Lisagor was alive. I miss him as much as Molly Ivins. You have to be very old to remember Peter, there you have it.
