Top politicians will back NY casinos
Place your bets! Top Albany lawmakers are ready to approve Las Vegas-style casinos for New York state — including the city.

Both Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos have individually told The Post that they would back a constitutional amendment legalizing slots, table games and card games in New York — saying the casinos would provide a huge windfall for the state’s coffers.

With the Legislature’s most powerful men on board, the next Bellagio or Borgata could end up right here in New York City -- and maybe even Manhattan.

4. While this would kill business in Atlantic City, every other major metropolis has casinos -
London, Paris, LA, Moscow. Kind of silly to deny NY state coffers that revenue source.

6. Wonder how this will affect Trump and his two A/C casinos.
Would he just open another casino in NYC and/or NYS?

7. I could see him trying to incorporate a casino into one of his hotels here.
Lot of levels on which that'd work well for him and his businesses.

8. Atlantic City has already lost big to casinos in PA; this will kill it
Christie rolled the dice by supporting the Atlantic City casinos and not supporting slots for the Meadowlands and Monmouth Park racetracks. If this goes through, the stupidity of betting on Atlantic City will be obvious.

10. Revenues are down some but so far they casino (NA) near me is
still busy. They have laid off some administration but very few of the workers. They also have several restaurants and gift shops that bring in a good amount. Their hotel and golf course also adds revenue.

11. Casinos near population centers do well -- people can spend more gambling and less on travel
Destination casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City or Indian casinos far from metro areas may be having trouble.
