GOP calls Obama's tax plan 'class warfare'
WASHINGTON — Republicans on Sunday decried the notion of a new minimum tax rate for millionaires as “class warfare,” saying the proposal by President Obama may be intended to portray Congressional Republicans who resist it as being callously indifferent to the hardships facing many Americans.

Representative Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, said the tax proposal, which Mr. Obama is expected to unveil on Monday, would also weigh heavily on a stagnating economy.

“It adds further instability to our system, more uncertainty, and it punishes job creation,” Mr. Ryan said on “Fox News Sunday.” “Class warfare may make for really good politics, but it makes for rotten economics.”

The pushback from Republicans — Mr. Ryan was not the only one to use the words “class warfare” — was in response to a White House assertion that Mr. Obama would call for a new minimum tax rate for individuals making more than $1 million a year to ensure that they pay at least the same percentage of their earnings as middle-income taxpayers.

3. "Class warfare makes for bad economics." He's right!
That's why our economy is in the shitter after the corporate class began the current undeclared class war. For the middle and working classes to now "declare" an intent to fight back is not the start of the problem, but rather the beginning of a solution.

Brilliant! I couldn't have said it better myself.

:applause:

Do you mind if I use it in my next argument with a teabagger when they start whining about class warfare?

I'm not saying if one American has a Lexus, we should all have one. I'm saying that if one American has a Lexus, he can damn well spare a few bucks for those of us driving Fords.

8. A Lexus a month.
A million a year is $83,333 a month. And what their being asked to do is pay the same percentage of taxes as everybody else.

11. It may be class warfare, those who decry the war need to ask who started it and why?
More than 30 years of rotten Republican trickle down economics. There is no any use to even repond to this Republican assertion.

12. So it is an attack on those who are struggling. The wealthy will not
spread their wealth around, pay their fair share and help disperse funds to rebuild our desperately republican ravaged economy.

Just because Republicans are recognizing the truth that doesn't make it a strike against Democrats.

14. It really was only a matter of time before they trotted that one back out
The truly odd part of Republican ideology is that they speak of capitalism and what not but seem wholly unfamiliar with Adam Smith's statement that the rich should be taxed at a higher rate than the poor. They don't believe in that as evidenced by elements within their party calling for flat taxes, something which obviously contradicts what the founder of capitalism said we should do.

It comes as no surprise, though. They also pretend to be the party of biblical beliefs but they pick and choose what they like from there as well.

17. Paul Ryan's oppressive tax cuts for the wealthy have done more damage to our economy than was
created the last time the elite destroyed this economy in the 30's. This man needs to stop speaking for the one percent.

21. Class Warfare?
I think Al Franken said "Class warfare? During the French Revolution they rounded up the rich, took their wealth, and chopped off their heads, now that's class warfare". Or something to that effect. I'll research it tomorrow, it's late. ;)

23. Fucking crybabies. They better hope they never see real
class warfare (see France 1789, France 1870 or Russia 1917 for examples of the real deal), because there are way more in the working class masses than there are of the ruling class and its lackies. Come real class warfare (and not this metaphoric shit that keeps getting tossed around) and they'll be wishing they had a chance to pay a fair tax rate.

Here's just a little taste of what they could look forward to. How about we simply confiscate the surplus assets of any individual in this county whose net worth exceeds by 20% the median net worth? That's right assholes, we'll just take anything you have that exceeds by more than 20% the median net worth of America.

We need to be pushing that meme far and wide. The Republicans are traitors to the American people. They're selling out our country.

Disloyal, unpatriotic un-Americans!

and you ought to remember there are many more of us than you.

28. Why does anyone take this childish lemming seriously?
Oh yeah, that's right. Because the REAL declarers of "class warfare" control the message.

Um, Paul? Bitch-ass white old men with planes and homes . . . don't get no special privileges. Their LIVES are a privilege. Their economic climate is a privilege. The fact that this isn't 18th century France . . . is a privilege.

Class warfare has been nothing but a class ROUT.

The only redistribution that's been happening for the past 31 years is from the bottom to the top, not the other way around.

And when your class can no longer steal from us and when we can no longer afford to buy your goods and all is lost and there's no hope or promise left . . . well, like that nutjob Mel Gibson said in a movie once . . . God help you, because no one else is going to.
