WASHINGTON — Leading Republicans on Sunday decried the notion of a new minimum tax rate for millionaires as “class warfare,” saying it seemed intended by President Obama as a way to portray Congressional Republicans, should they resist, as being callously indifferent to the hardships faced by ordinary Americans.

Representative Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee said that the tax proposal, which Mr. Obama is expected to unveil on Monday, would also weigh heavily on an already stagnating economy.

“It adds further instability to our system, more uncertainty and it punishes job creation,” Mr. Ryan said on “Fox News Sunday.” “Class warfare may make for good politics but it makes for rotten economics.”

The pushback from Republicans — Mr. Ryan was not the only one to use the words “class warfare” — came after a report that Mr. Obama would call for a new minimum tax rate for individuals making more than $1 million a year to ensure that they pay at least the same percentage of their earnings as middle-income taxpayers.

1. I don't believe the repugs have thought this through
Sure, some in the non-thinking crowd will buy this 'class warfare' line, but the vast majority will come to realize that it's the repugs who have been waging class warfare all along...and - thus far - winning.

3. If you reinvest money in your business, it's not being taxed
So what they're saying amounts to a claim that a prosperous business owner won't find it worth the trouble to expand if he can only expect to take home another $500,000 out of it instead of pocketing another $1 million.

What a bunch of slackers!

4. they spew this shit because they've got no better shit to spew.
they've got a job to do: protect the uber-wealthy at every turn.

how would you do it? the truth is your enemy, morality is your enemy, popular opinion is your enemy. but you're being paid handsomely to stand there and spew SOMETHING, anything, in the hopes it might stick and deflect, delay, defeat, or at least reduce any tax increase on your patrons.

so based on extensive psychological research in public button-pushing, you concoct a string of well-tested words and phrases into an otherwise non-sensical sentence, leaving the passive and easily manipulated listeners in the audience convinced that up is down and right is wrong and rich people somehow oppressed victims of horrendous unfairness.

remember, you're not paid to be correct or honest or logical. you're paid to keep taxes low for the rich.

do you have a better way of doing it?

pity these fools, it's an increasingly tough job, and they're grasping at straws.
