RENO, NEVADA -- In the wake of the crash at a Reno air show that killed nine people Friday, it turns out astronaut Mark Kelly was supposed to fly in that very air show on Saturday. But the crash caused the rest of the event to be canceled.

Kelly is the husband of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who is recovering after an assassination attempt in January.

Kelly was supposed to fly in a vintage World War II aircraft similar to the one that crashed. The commander of the final space shuttle Endeavor mission was in Reno as a guest of the Breitling watch company. The Navy captain was not at the event Friday.

2. I got a bad feeling about this.
Is there any possibility that the plane that crashed was sabotaged? Could it be that someone was sending a message to Kelly? A warning? Okay, the tinfoil is on my head.

3. I need a piece of that tinfoil because I thought it may have been done to dispel
some of the 9/11 rumors about the disintegrated plane that crashed in PA.

9. Yes, that's very very ridiculous.
Planes crash. And when they crash at a high speed, they have a tendency to shred themselves, because airplanes are built very light. As lightly as it's practical to build them and have them hold together, because that maximizes fuel economy. You know HOW THICK the outer skin of an airplane is? About six one hundredths of an inch.

4. I didn't know he was an air racer...........????

This isn't flying, its racing and its not a walk in the park. Apparently people don't know much about aviation history. This was a race not a air show.

Additionally, according to Mark Kimble, a spokesman for Rep Giffords, astronaut Mark Kelly, Giffords’ husband, was scheduled to perform acrobatics at the show; however, he was in Houston supporting his wife during her rehabilitation.

Acrobatics are not racing.!!!!!!!!! Performing isn't racing.

7. The P-51 that crashed was not stock -- e.g. the wings had been shortened by 5 feet
It had been modified to get extra speed in racing.
