Too obvious for 'Baggers to get: Funding cuts mean going on Unemployment

There's this family. The wife made it to her retirement. So far so good. Not much of a monthly amount, but includes health care. Then the husband was laid off two years short of his retirement because of a municipal budget shortfall. He went on Unemployment. They are empty nesters, but now one daughter got laid off because of funding shortages in Planned Parenthood where she worked. She went on Unemployment. Her husband has a part time job. That's one family.

1. ahh, if we would only remember how it used to be in the 30s

when families stayed together and took care of each other with 4 generations living in one hovel being able to trade radishes for medical care.

It's a combination of greed, resentment, and hostility they have to those who are falling between the cracks in the safety net, that spur them on. They say charity can make up for government cutbacks, because it is in their best interest to believe that it can, or to cynically spout that nonsense off even though they don't really believe it deep down.
