I promise that this is the only time I'll ever use lyrics from a Britney Spears song in a subject line. Ever.

from the Toronto Star:

Right-leaning councillors reconsider votes after Ford’s support plummets

Robyn Doolittle
Urban Affairs Reporter

Publicly, councillors within mayor Rob Ford’s voting bloc say they are unshaken by a massive poll that shows plummeting support for the mayor and his agenda.

But privately, a number of right-leaning and centrist councillors say they will not be voting for many of the proposed service cuts — such as daycares, libraries, zoos, farms and arts funding — telling the mayor: I can’t politically afford it.

“People don’t feel good about how things have been happening and they’re taking a look at those numbers,” said one.

Others dismissed the Forum Research poll’s credibility because it was paid for by CUPE Local 79. ............(more)

1. some where in my mind -- i think -- maybe the worst has to happen.
maybe these retrograde fucks should rip it down -- let the public see what's left.

maybe then they'll get the point.

2. I hear you
On another website forum, someone was singing the praises of Peter Schiff (Ron Paul supporter)who apparently told Congress some truths and the REAL way to get America moving forward. It was a video, so I could not hear what he said, but I searched and found a letter he wrote to congress stating what he thought was wrong, and ways to fix the situation.

In the letter, he acknowledges that his "medicine" will cause unemployment to rise, wages to fall, foreclosures to rise, inflation to rise and hardship for all. BUT, the good news (?!?) was that out of that, America could then grow. He would get rid of education, the social safety net, minimum wages and of course - unemployment insurance.

And one must always be mindful that this so called expert is what I would call a gold bug. He profits from a high value of gold vs a high US dollar. It suddenly became crystal clear why he would advocate for this sort of destructive nuclear medicine. He would make allot of money. He "forsees gold at the 10 000 range", and wants to help his vision come to fruition.

It has absolutely nothing to do with what is best for the nation. Then there are the doomsdayers who actively seek to help bring along the rapture.

3. These people romanticize lawlessness.
We're very close to that as it is.

4. A year late...
Ford should never have won. I think the people of Toronto have realized their mistake. Barring something really strange, though, they're stuck with Ford for another 3 years.
