NY Daily News Article - Sarah Palin is the Kardashian of politics...
Sarah Palin is the Kardashian of politics, making a lucrative career out of being famous
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2011/09/16/2011-09-16_the_other_kardashian_cartoonish_sarah_is_the_reality_star_of_politics.html

<snip>
Sarah Palin's truest talents involve looking good and being famous. Somehow, though, in the hysterical world of modern media coverage, that is enough for her to be treated like some factor in the upcoming election, when she is the opposite of that.
</snip>

<snip>
Just about any policy question is a brain buster for Palin, but she is smart enough to know that if she ever did face the scrutiny of a presidential campaign she would be exposed as having about as much substance as Kim and Khloe and Kourtney and all the bubbleheads around them.
</snip>
----
I don't think that she will like this article.

...And there is also a video of a young Sarah doing the (sports) news that proves that she can read.

1. And yet . . .
Folks like the Daily News and the major networks and the popular cable shows all seem irresistibly drawn to reporting on Quitterella's ever move, the same as they do for the E! channel's favorite bubbleheads. I'm as guilty as the next person in being diverted from time to time by the Hollywood hype/trash, but that's all it is: A diversion. I certainly don't look to these people for serious public policy pronouncements or consider them to be potential leaders of the country.

Sarah Palin, however, is flirting with running for the highest office in the land, and is given actual, serious consideration by people who should know better. I'm so old, I remember a time when a serious run for president (that excludes runs by Tiny Tim or anyone named "Pat": Paulsen, Robertson or Buchanan) caused the self-styled serious media outlets to do some checking up, and inviting the candidates in for some direct questioning.

Can the Daily News and other serious media outlets discipline themselves? Or are they incapable of distinguishing the difference between entertainment and hard news anymore?
