James Carville: Obama needs to fire people, and start prosecuting Wall Street crime!
I hope other centerrightist dems read the writing on the wall. It is about time they said something.

I don't know how else to break this down. Simply put:

1. Fire somebody. No -- fire a lot of people. This may be news to you but this is not going well. For precedent, see Russian Army 64th division at Stalingrad. There were enough deaths at Stalingrad to make the entire tea party collectively orgasm.
Obama: America can't 'wait 14 months'
Branson: Obama's timing is off
Obama: If you love me, help pass bill
Obama: America can't 'wait 14 months'

Mr. President, your hinge of fate must turn. Bill Clinton fired many people in 1994 and took a lot of heat for it. Reagan fired most of his campaign staff in 1980. Republicans historically fired their own speaker, Newt Gingrich. Bush fired Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. For God's sake, why are we still looking at the same political and economic advisers that got us into this mess? It's not working.

Furthermore, it's not going to work with the same team, the same strategy and the same excuses. I know economic analysts are smart -- some work 17-hour days. It's time to show them the exit. Wake up -- show us you are doing something.

2. Indict people. There are certain people in American finance who haven't been held responsible for utterly ruining the economic fabric of our country. Demand from the attorney general a clear status of the state of investigation concerning these extraordinary injustices imposed upon the American people. I know Attorney General Eric Holder is a close friend of yours, but if his explanations aren't good, fire him too. Demand answers to why no one has been indicted..........

It just blows my mind that our country is in debt because we bailed these rich crooks out and these rich crooks use it as an excuse to privatize social security and our school system. It blows my mind that so many big wig dems defend such things.

1. I like BO a lot ...
But big business and wall street have spent the last 3 years doing all that they can to hold back the economy in great part to take him down. I know politically his team is oriented toward the middle, but frankly, I think the evidence is VERY clear, if they make the argument, that Wall Street needs to be addressed.

They ARE the reason for the depths of current economic problems and we have spent a decade now coddling them and the ultra rich, only to have a massive deficit and an economy that is not working for 80% of the country.

So, based on the reality, based on the politics, the play is to go at them directly.

It isn't a hard frame - since the start of the bush presidency and the first two years of my presidency, we have given these folks deep tax cuts and weakned regulation. They promised to create jobs and drive the economy, and this has not occurred. We have to stop coddling these people and institutions, and return to a model that worked in the 90s - a BALANCED approach with a properly set tax rate.

8. Personal credit, yes ...
that is one end that just has to normalize.

But, again, the government was put on track to a balanced budget that was going to pay down most of our debt with the properly set tax rates, and while there was a tech bubble, the economy was on better ground with proper regulation and tax rates that led people to want to put money into business vs just sitting on it.

6. I haven't cared for Carville much in the last five years, but I would
listen to him here. Obama needs to know what it feel like not to have enough money to pay the next mortgage bill to begin to feel our pain. I think he's too damn slow. Look, he went over Congress' head on Libya, why not with the economy?

If nothing else, go after the tax cheats who are hoarding money overseas.

17. Obama has reduced taxes on the wealthy more than Bush
adding a tax cut on inherited wealth to the Bush tax cuts, and the pay roll tax cuts. He has reduced revenue by 654 billion dollars, and proposes to reduce it by 250 billion more. Then he has the nerve to support cuts to medicare and medicaid. http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2011/09/obama_bush_taxes.html

14. stunning, isn't it?
This spells big trouble. How could the Democratic party rise so high and fall so dramatically in such a short time? I think the evidence is now overwhelming that the DLC third way approach has failed miserably. Yet people who claim to be dyed-in-the-wool partisans and strong supporters of the party still defend the approach even as it destroys the party.

There is such a limited and restricted range of things that can be said within the party, as we witness right here every day (although we are all asked to pretend that this is not the case) and yet the party discipline and message control is breaking down. Even an insider, a conservative like Carville is no saying forbidden things.

I think it is now clear that the DLC faction within the party would rather destroy the party - not to mention doing horrific damage to the everyday people - than to allow a voice from the left, or allow any dissenting voices whatsoever. They are taking us all down with them, and are opening the door to the extreme right wing.

19. RW Koch Bros. funded the DLC -- don't think they were looking for Dem party to succeed!!
The criminal Pfizer and Chevron also funded the DLC --

They've been infiltrating the party for more than 20 years -- influencing its

agenda and its candidates -- including its presidential candidates.

Even in 1978 -- See: Wm. Greider/"Who Will Tell the People?" -- the Democrats were

colluding with the GOP to break the tax code for the rich. This was with Dems in

FULL power -- and years before Reagan.

Certainly I agree that Koch Bros. would rather destroy the party -- and it look like

Obama could easily do that. What he has done in his betrayal of universal health care

in his back room meetings with Big Pharma and the private H/C industry --

in his private deals with GOP on the budget -- and in putting Social Security/Medicare and

Medicaid on the table has destroyed any credibility he may have ever had --

2010 was a reaction to the Health care betrayal --

and I think 2012 will have a similar result --

Problem is, Obama may take the Dem Party with him?

We might ask, what is actually left of the party at this point?

that destroying the party was the mission all along.

11. That's just lookin' backwards to the past
We're lookin' forward to the future now, and who better to help us out of this financial mess than the same captains of industry who got us into it? Their expertise is indispensible! If what we're doing hasn't worked, it's probably because we haven't done it long enough or earnestly enough. Playing the blame game makes the baby Jesus cry.

16. I'm beginning to think he is right.
The people surrounding the President are almost worthless. He has idiots in the DNC, one can see this plainly after the debacle in NY9. He does need to fire some wall flowers for sure. He is better than this.
